Joss Whedon And Jonathan Eusebio Discuss The Epic Final Battle In MARVEL'S THE AVENGERS

In an interview with MTV Splash Page, director Joss Whedon has revealed the difficulties behind helming the epic final battle between the team and Loki's army which takes place on the streets of Manhattan, New York. "The final battle is not small. It really was a task to make sure that everybody was working at their particular power level, and every now and then we had to adjust things because there are things that Cap can do Hawkeye can't, and Thor can do that Cap can't, and Hulk can do that Thor can't. You've just got to make sure that you stay true to their realities."

"Not only did we have doubles for all the actors, but for Loki's army, we had a whole crop of stunt men, 10 to 12 core guys," adds Jonathan Eusebio, the fight coordinator for the superhero ensemble. "All we did is choreograph huge action pieces for the whole last sequence. When that sequence actually came up, we already had really good pieces choreographed and rehearsed with most of the actors and the stunt people."

Whedon recently revealed that he had to write the script while filming, and Eusebio confirms that putting the fight scenes together also involved a similar amount of pressure. "There were some days that were tough and we had to make stuff up on the spot, and not just individual one-on-one type pieces. It would be pieces where it's eight-on-one, and the actors would pick it up on the spot, that day. I was pretty proud of the fact that they could adapt to changes on the spot. There's a Thor-Captain America team-up in the street, that one we pieced together pretty quick the day before we were going to shoot it. I think that turned out really good."

That last action sequence was a great final battle for this movie, it gave it the feel of a war movie. I seen the movie twice already and my head is exploding with an overflow of epicness. Cannot wait for the DVD, sequel, man this movie is so great.

Joss Whedon is a boss

Avengers is an outstanding film in many, many ways....but the troll Nolanite touches on something that does ring a little true. The final battle, unfortunately, has a few exterior scenes that look very similar to some of the Transformers films. There are many aspects to the battle that are different, so don't worry if you haven't seen the film. The final battle is still very enjoyable, even for someone like me that is not a big Transformers fan.

All I know was that I was geeking out with all of the shots of the team working together and helping each other. I thought I was watching The Avengers cartoon for a second. Not that I mean that in a bad way.

Also, I would point out to "Nolanite" that the film was in production before Transformers 3 came out, so they are not exactly copying that film.

Having not seen it yet (11:30 tonight, PST), I'll take anything from a guy with "Nolanite" as a name with a gallon of salt. Jesus really? THE DARK KNIGHT RISES TRAILERS HAVE ALL BEEN SNOOZE-FESTS!!! And I LOVE Nolans Batman movies, but you cant honestly compare the two. Ones a Superhero movie the way superhero movies were made to be, and one is a dramatic crime noir thriller with a superhero instead of a private eye. Incomparable.

I know you didn't "technically" compare the two, but you know its in the back of your head...I can see it there.

I would have love to see The Skrulls as the army more than Chitauri.
Shapeshifters just strikes me more. :)

@Ripynt

TDKR trailers have been fantastic

Anyway saw this movie and loved it. Brilliant fight scene at the end. The best ever in any CBM hands down. I had problems with the beginning and ending though, everything in between is virtually flawless.

I'd give it an 8.5/10. Thors personality sort of is undercut, Pepper Potts is practically useless screen time, the beginning is boring, and the ending seems rushed.

I still call TDK my favorite CBM of all time...but I adored this movie to no end
RogueMonk

The ending was truly epic but I guess you can't have anything that looks remotely like a transformer of any kinds destroying a city or people say they ripped off Bay. It's stupid.

When Hulk smashes Loki like a ragdoll... That is an incredible moment.

Tony/Iron Man is and was always my favorite. He's hilarious in this and Iron Man is awesome. Perfect movie.

there's a good reason Transformers and Avengers to look similar, they hired the same artist.

Fogs

Lol, the only thing Avengers reminds Transformers is that they fight in NY streets.

I think Bay is shitty in every way. His action scenes are so fast and shaky you can't see a thing. Avengers was well shot, well coreographed and above all, you can tell what's going on onscreen.

No comparisons. Nolanite tried to diminish the movie with a baaad argument.

Just came from watching this. Awesome movie. The Imax and 3d experience was awesome. Every character got enough time to shine on screen. BTW..TDKR trailer was awesome. Hell my wife said she waited to see TASM! Enjoy peeps! The Avengers was worth the wait!!
