Avengers Endgame: Encore Box Office Tracking Points To MCU Movie Making History (Again) Next Week

Avengers: Endgame is heading back to theaters on September 25, and early box office tracking suggests the Encore edition of the Infinity Saga conclusion will make box office history.

Avengers: Endgame returns to theaters next weekend as Avengers Endgame: Encore, and it seems the movie will once again break North American box office records.

According to Global Box Office, the blockbuster is tracking to open with between $22 million and £27 million. If it ends the weekend on the higher end, then it will beat Titanic 3D ($25.6 million) to score the biggest opening weekend of all time for a re-release.

As a reminder, there's a $124.27 million difference between Avengers: Endgame ($2,799,439,100) and Avatar ($2,923,710,708) at the worldwide box office. Can the MCU movie dethrone James Cameron's sci-fi epic? It's a big ask, but certainly not impossible depending on international audiences.

A new poster has also been released for Avengers Endgame: Encore, illustrated by Doaly. It's an awesome piece that assembles the original Avengers as Thanos looms large above them.

The re-release will feature a new look at December's Avengers: Doomsday and will be presented in Disney's newly launched "Infinity Vision" format.

While IMAX has dismissed it as a gimmick, it's been officially described as a new certification for Premium Large Format (PLF) theaters that guarantees moviegoers an exceptional film presentation with big screens, bright images and outstanding sound.

Joe Russo previously described Avengers Endgame: Encore as "required viewing" because it connects "the story of [Avengers: Endgame and Avengers: Doomsday" together.

"There’s a natural progression from Endgame into Doomsday, which is also inclusive of all the other stories that have been playing out," the filmmaker continued. "But I think it’s important to see Endgame again in theaters for two reasons: One, you’re going to have a lot of fun... and two, I think it’s required viewing for following the story in Doomsday."

The grave course of events set in motion by Thanos that wiped out half the universe and fractured the Avengers' ranks compels the remaining Avengers to take one final stand in Marvel Studios’ grand conclusion to twenty-two films, Avengers: Endgame.

Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo and written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, the movie features an epic ensemble which includes Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Don Cheadle, Paul Rudd, Brie Larson, Karen Gillan, Danai Gurira, Benedict Wong, Jon Favreau, Bradley Cooper, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Josh Brolin.

"Avengers: Endgame is a masterpiece which not only delivers on every expectation you had but exceeds ones you didn't even think about. This isn't just a movie; it's an experience," we wrote in our 2019 review of the movie.

Avengers Endgame: Encore arrives in theaters on September 25.

@ArthurFuchsache - yeah…

Maybe they are right but feels like just trying to hype up the re-release honestly.

I fully expect all the new Doomsday footage though to be at the end in a preview.

@TheVisionary25 - or it'll be a stinger with Doom shaking his fist at a screen showing Cap and Peggy. Maybe even some dialogue about them buggering up the time line with Caps shenanigans

This movie was among the best experiences I've had at a movie theater, and my first movie experience was in 75. I think a lot of people will want to relive it, especially as a lead on to Doomsday. I would not be surprised if these opening numbers are on the low side after what BND just did. I'd give it a 50/50 shot of taking the #1 spot from Avatar

@FireGunn

For the first time ever, we both finally agree on something. Definitely a cash grab. And this "infinity vision" crap is just another word for "HD Format".

Those extra few minutes added to the movie are probably those individual teasers released last December 😂

Nolanite out

Damn , if that’s true then the Endgame re-release could end up as no 1 next week atleast on the domestic B.O which I don’t think any modern re-release has ever done but i could be wrong…

However i feel that spot could go to Forgotten Island (or RE could just repeat) next week too since we have that , Heart of The Beast , Primetime and Your Mother , Your Mother , Your Mother coming out but we’ll see.

Anyway i hope the people who check out Encore enjoy it but ill wait for the Doomsday footage description or watch it when it’ll leak!!.
