Why was Tom Welling listed on the call sheet for a recent Batman film shoot?

A bit of a mystery has come up about why Smallville star Tom Welling's name would appear on a call sheet for the production of Batman Begins, starring Christian Bale.

The Aug. 15 shoot list can be found here. Speculation is that the Clark Kent actor might have a cameo in the film. Does that lend credence to rumors that Welling is being sought to play the Man of Steel in the big screen revival of the Superman film franchise?
