The Batman Part II was supposed to open next year, but ended up being hit by another release date delay when it shifted to early 2028. By then, nearly six years will have passed since The Batman opened in theaters, a significant gap between chapters of a major superhero franchise.
The hope is that the sequel will have been worth the wait, especially with little concrete evidence that The Brave and the Bold is taking shape at DC Studios.
In an interview with GQ, Robert Pattinson confirmed that he's currently in London until "the end of the year" shooting The Batman Part II, confirming that the movie will have a lengthy shoot (and upwards of a year for post-production).
Asked how work on the project is going, the actor said, "It's good. I'm definitely feeling my age when fighting a lot. I'm literally like, 'Goddamn, this is significantly harder than it used to be.' But it’s really fun. And I think the movie’s going to be pretty great. It’s got a really, really fun cast, but it’s a marathon."
The 40-year-old Pattinson went on to confirm that he was the one on set we spotted filming scenes as "The Drifter," and acknowledged that his schedule recently has been jam-packed. This year alone, he's starred in The Drama, The Odyssey, Primetime, and Dune: Part Three.
"Yeah, I've never done anything like this before," he said. "I've literally been going nonstop since after the actors' and writers' strikes. I was doing a movie with Adam McKay, which fell apart, and I ended up having a big period where I wasn't working when I recalibrated what I wanted to do."
Pattinson has previously admitted that starring in The Batman didn't open as many doors as he expected, but Bruce Wayne has proved to be just one of many roles he's tackled over the past several years.
Whether he'll get the opportunity to star in Part III remains to be seen. There's been a lot of speculation about DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn being unhappy with Matt Reeves' franchise overshadowing his Batman plans. However, the filmmaker reports to Warner Bros. Pictures executives, not Gunn.

The Batman Part II is set to be released in theaters on February 18, 2028.
