BOX OFFICE: CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER Passes $400 Million Worldwide
In 2011, Captain America: The First Avenger made $176 million domestically and nearly $194 million internationally, giving it a worldwide total of only $370 million. Captain America: The Winter Soldier meanwhile has today passed $400 million, beating the total gross of its predecessor!
Wow. What more is there to say than that? This is an amazing result for Marvel Studios, and a clear sign that the effect of The Avengers is still being felt two years later. One can only imagine how well the untitled Captain America 3 will do on May 6th, 2016! Regardless, with a worldwide total of $400 million after such a short period of time, Captain America: The Winter Soldier is now closing in on Thor's $449 million, and it should be very interesting to see if it can beat the third highest grossing Marvel Studios movie of all-time, Thor: The Dark World ($644 million)! What do you think?
