Ms. Marvel Volume 1: No Normal a comic based on Marvel’s first Muslim American super hero Kamala Khan. Ms. Marvel is their first published title to be adapted into audiobook form, and tells the story of a New Jersey teen who acquires extraordinary powers. She soon discovers that this new gift may be dangerous and more than she can handle. How will the spunky young hero respond to this new responsibility.

GraphicAudio.net the story follows the first 5 issues of the Mr. Marvel comic series, and while this isn’t Marvels first collaboration with GraphicAudio Ms. Marvel it the first adapted directly from the source material. This audio adaptation contains cinematic music, a full cast of voices, and digital sound effects, with no narrator to help recreate the story scene by scene capturing the unique experience of a comic book. Reminiscent of a young Peter Parker, Kamala Khan is a character that resonates with a new generation of readers and the fact that she was chosen as Marvel’s first audio book supports her popularity. Comics by nature have always been considered a visual experience, but I applauded Marvel for looking at other ways to tell the fascinating stories they create.
