Rumor: X-Men Script Praised By Insider; Hails Reboot As Batman v Superman Meets The Breakfast Club

The first supposed reaction to the X-Men reboot's script has been revealed, but it's also being compared to four movies that have generated a lot of discussion among fans of the mutant team.

Marvel Studios' untitled X-Men reboot is expected to begin shooting later this year, but have the leaks already begun? Time will tell, but we do have the first rumoured reaction to the movie's script, and it sounds like filmmaker Jake Schreier has another hit on his hands.

According to insider @MyTimeToShineH, "A source recently read the script for the MCU’s X-Men reboot and had nothing but praise for it."

Here's where things get really interesting, though. Apparently, this source described it as, "If Thunderbolts*, X-Men: First Class, Batman v Superman, and The Breakfast Club had a baby, it would be this." That's quite the combination!

While best taken with a pinch of salt, these comparisons still offer some potentially intriguing clues about what Marvel Studios has planned for its X-Men reboot.

Thunderbolts* points to a dysfunctional ensemble being at the heart of the story, with the mutants initially struggling to work together before becoming a genuine team. X-Men: First Class, meanwhile, hints at a focus on younger mutants discovering their abilities while the ideological foundations of the franchise are established.

The Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice comparison is perhaps the most interesting—and potentially controversial—as it hints at a darker and more politically charged story than normal superhero fare. As for The Breakfast Club, it goes without saying that relationships between the young mutants will likely be just as important as the superhero action.

Taken together, the comparison points to an X-Men movie that could be as character-driven as it is packed with the expected superhero action. Thunderbolts* wasn't a box office hit, but it is one of Marvel Studios' best-reviewed blockbusters, so this mutant team is arguably in safe hands.

There are a couple of other interesting rumours floating around today, including an update on when we'll potentially get a new look at Avengers: Doomsday and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Season 2...

Directed by Jake Schreier (Thunderbolts*), the untitled X-Men movie stars Kit Connor (Heartstopper) as Scott Summers, Sadie Sink (Spider-Man: Brand New Day) as Jean Grey, Christopher Abbott (Catch-22) as Professor Charles Xavier, Inde Navarrette (Obsession) as Rogue, and Maya Boyd (& Juliet) as Storm.

Samara Weaving (Ready or Not) also stars as Emma Frost, alongside Adam Driver (Star Wars: The Force Awakens), who plays Nathaniel Milbury, an alias of Mister Sinister in the comics.

X-Men will be released exclusively in theaters May 5, 2028.

I remember when BvS "leaks" declared the film genius during WB insider screening.

they trying to start some shit already. damn ink aint even dried yet from the cast signing and already comparing it to inflammatory material. they know full well the reaction of a batman vs superman comparison one of the most divisive CBM would stir.

@supermanrex - BVS: Ultimate Cut is damn good, many CBMs still have a long way to go to match it.

@Loverboy83 -

Both cuts of BvS sucked. People that still declare their undying love for that and ZSJL are hilarious. They were better than the theatrical cuts, but they were still bad.

Typical Snyder crashing and burning.

I still give him credit for Watchmen though. That was a masterpiece.

Interesting if true.

The Thunderbolts comparison makes sense given the creative team of that is essentially involved in this film aswell as First Class given its kind of an origin story but the BVS & Breakfast Club mentions are intriguing…

My guess is that the BVS comparison is in relation to how society might view these mutants & their reactions to them as we see how the world in the former reacts to Superman while The Breakfast Club tie could be the various mutants dealing with societal expectations and pressures to conform as they find out by interacting & bonding with each other that they are more similar then they are different so if those are the reasons then I’m
all for it!!.

Anyway in regards to what could be coming for Marvel this and or next month , we have the EG re-release that brings with it a sneak peek of Doomsday while next month is NYCC where I could see them focusing on YFNS S2 (maybe even release a trailer) aswell as details/exclusive footage for Born Again S3.
