James Gunn Says We Could Potentially See DC VERTIGO Characters In The DCU

DC Studios co-head James Gunn has taken to Twitter to reveal that we could potentially see characters from DC Comics' Vertigo imprint in the DCU down the line...

Based on what we already know of the new DCU slate - and James Gunn has confirmed that "not even half" of the first chapter has been announced - we're going to see a diverse mix of metahumans, monsters, and magic-based characters, and it sounds like that may only be scratching the surface.

Gunn was asked if "any more Vertigo characters besides Swamp Thing" are going to be introduced, and revealed that, yes, there is indeed potential for certain stories/characters he "really adored" to be adapted.

As Gunn also points out, Swamp Thing was originally introduced in the main DC Comics universe before the more mature Vertigo imprint was implemented (ditto John Constantine, Sandman, Animal Man, etc), but there are plenty of other heroes and villains that could be utilized.

Morpheus seems highly unlikely given the current Netflix Sandman series, but what about Transmetropolitan, The Invisibles, or maybe even Fables?

There are obviously numerous possibilities, but even if any Vertigo-based projects are in the early planning stages, it'll probably be a while before we hear about them - unless Gunn decided to drop a few more hints on social media!

Are there any particular DC Vertigo tales or characters you'd like to see make the jump to the DCU?
