This is the 3rd casting call for "The Man of Steel" 2014. I will do 2 a day until I have a complete cast. I have recently done Superman and Lois Lane. So far the cast looks like this:
Henry Cavill as Kal-El/Clark Kent/Superman
Olivia Wilde as Lois Lane
For Lex Luthor, this guy needs to be a name already. He needs to have a presence when he goes into a room. He also needs to be an aggressive person but at the same time suave. He is the head of a mutli billion $ company and one of the richest people in the world, he needs to be able to show that power and thirst for it. Here is the final call:
Ralph Fiennes
Mr. Fiennes is the ultimate bad guy. He has played Lord Voldermort in the Harry Potter series which is soon coming to a dramatic climax, for which he will be an even bigger star. Therefore Fiennes would be the ultimate cast for Lex Luthor. He has the look already, has the commanding presence, the acting ability and has the right persona for Lex Luthor. A highly strong candidate.
Billy Zane
A fan favourite because of his bald head and performance in Titanic, Zane is a candidate not been picked by Director's before. He has been used as Lex in many fan casts and has the right look for Lex. He can pull of the sauve gentlemen like character and switch it too menace in a second which is what Lex is. A strong candidate.
Viggo Mortensen
Better known as Aragon from the Lord of the Rings trilogy, Mortonsen is a fan fav for Lex Luthor. He can play the aggression as seen in LOTR and is an incredibly actor. The role for Lex needs to be a big name and Mortensen fits the bill. Shave his head and you have a strong candidate.
Bruce Willis
Has been linked to the role in the past, Willis I think could play the role but I don't quite see him as Lex, somehow the voice doesn't quite fit for Lex. I would want a screen test from him anyway to see if he could pull it off.
Jon Hamm
Has been linked with just about every super hero from DC to Marvel in the recent years. Could his calling be Lex Luthor, I think it could. He can the play the businessman and think he could play the menace that Lex is very well. Once linked to Superman, the irony could be he is cast to play Lex.
