Paramount's new take on Stephen King's Pet Sematary is moving forward with Starry Eyes directors Dennis Widmyer and Kevin Kolsch at the helm, and now THR reports that the horror adaptation may have found its lead.

According to the trade, Jason Clarke (Dawn of the Planet of The Apes, Lawless, Terminator Genisys) is in talks to play Doctor Louis Creed, whose infant son Gage is mowed down by a truck soon after his family relocates to the small town of Ludlow. Mad with grief, Creed decides to bury the boy in an ancient Native American cemetery (that's never a good idea) in the hopes of resurrecting him.

Gage does come back, but he takes something with him.

The novel was previously adapted by Paramount as a 1989 feature, but despite a few creepy moments, it never really managed to capture the terrifying tone of the book. Let's hope this new version does a better job.
