Prepare To Die! FRIDAY THE 13th Video Game Announced In Time For This Year's Reboot

The first FRIDAY THE 13th video game in decades has been announced for a late 2015 release. Does this have anything to do with the film?

The Friday The 13th series is a franchise that helped define the slasher sub-genre of horror as we know it today. We have had at least one installment of the franchise come out every decade since the '80s...that is, if we are discussing the movies.

It has just became public knowledge that the Friday The 13th franchise will receive its first video game adaptation in over 25 years, as the last video game was release on the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1989.

The latest video game is currently in development under the working title, Friday The 13th, and is intended to be released under multiple gaming systems this October. With a Friday The 13th TV series in the works and a reboot slated for a 13 November 2015 release date, some will wonder if the game is an adaptation of either. While the game isn't a direct spin-off of any version of the franchise series in particular, the game will incorporate elements of both the upcoming show and reboot, as well as the classic film series.

Friday co-creator Sean Cunningham confirmed his involvement and shed some light on why he felt a new video game was the way to go: "With a new television series on the horizon and plans announced for the thirteenth installment of the film franchise, we felt the timing was right to finally explore Jason [Voorhees], Camp Crystal Lake, and the rest of the Friday the 13th story in interactive form. We have some exciting new ideas for a game that supplies plenty of replay value, while delivering the kinds of thrills and scares that fans of the franchise have come to expect."

Expect an announcement of the game's developers and possibly the final title soon.

Welcome, I am Darkknight2149. I am primarily a fan of comic books and their various adaptations, as well as horror and other classic film franchises.

As far as the "DC vs. Marvel" rivalry goes, I'm really not biased when it comes to studios and publishers. Preferences are fine, but I've never understood the basing of opinions purely by the studio/publisher that makes it.
