Oh, bother.

We reported on this a few months ago when a bunch of promo stills made waves in the horror community, and the first full trailer for bonkers-looking indie horror flick Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey has now been released.

The teaser begins with Christopher Robin bringing his girlfriend back to 100 Acre Wood to meet some old friends of his, but the adorable stuffed animals he once knew are long gone, and the now bloodthirsty versions of Pooh and Piglet decide to deal with their abandonment issues in the most gruesome way possible!

Winnie the Pooh entered the public domain earlier this year, which means Walt Disney Co. can no longer lay sole claim to the character. Filmmaker Rhys Frake-Waterfield has taken full advantage by putting a mallet in Pooh's hand and turning him into a remorseless killer.

Described as "a grisly retelling of the Winnie the Pooh legend," Blood and Honey follows Pooh and Piglet as they go on a murderous rampage. Tigger and Eeyore will not appear because of a rights issue, but the director recently implied that the pair may have eaten their donkey pal when driven into a feeding frenzy.

“Because they’ve had to fend for themselves so much, they’ve essentially become feral,” Waterfield explained to Variety. “So they’ve gone back to their animal roots. They’re no longer tame: they’re like a vicious bear and pig who want to go around and try and find prey.”

Check out the trailer below, and let us know what you think in the usual spot.
