Spider-Man: Brand New Day Lands IMAX Release After Record-Breaking Start; Tickets On Sale Tomorrow

Following its record-breaking weekend, Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios have officially announced that Spider-Man: Brand New Day has secured an IMAX release date and it's not a particularly long wait!

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is officially coming to IMAX!

As the dust settles on the film's record-breaking weekend at the box office and with The Odyssey's three-week IMAX-exclusive window coming to a close, Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios have announced that the global phenomenon has secured an IMAX release date for August 7!

Tickets will go on sale tomorrow across all major ticketing platforms, so considering it's presumably only a one-week IMAX window before The End of Oak Street opens on August 13, we'd advise nabbing seats as soon as humanly possible!

We also have a brand-new IMAX poster, which you can check out at the bottom of this article.

The Marvel blockbuster got off to a roaring start on Wednesday and is now widely expected to topple the record for the biggest domestic opening weekend of all time, currently held by Avengers: Endgame ($357.1M). While early projections placed Brand New Day around $355 million—good enough for second place—a stronger-than-anticipated Sunday is shifting the math. The Hollywood Reporter's Borys Kit reports that the latest chapter in Tom Holland's Spider-Man saga may have actually opened closer to $359 million, which would set an astounding new domestic record.

Paired with Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, this past weekend marked the biggest box office weekend in history, driving a cumulative gross of over $430 million across all movies in the marketplace.

Globally, Spider-Man: Brand New Day will safely secure the second-biggest opening weekend of all time with an estimated $927 million launch, although it seems that number is also ticking upward.

In addition to Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, the all-star supporting cast features Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Tramell Tillman, Michael Mando, Marvin Jones III, Zabryna Guevara, Keith David, Liza Colón-Zayas, Olivia Booth-Ford, Eman Esfandi, Florence Pugh, Marisa Tomei, and Mark Ruffalo.

Destin Daniel Cretton directed the film, with a screenplay from Chris McKenna & Erik Sommers and Justin Kuritzkes. Kevin Feige, Amy Pascal, Avi Arad, and Rachel O'Connor are attached as producers, while Louis D'Esposito and David Cain are listed as executive producers.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is now playing in theaters!

It's a BRAND NEW DAY for Peter Parker. Fighting crime full-time as Spider-Man in a world that doesn’t remember him—and the pressure of seeing his old friends move on without him—sparks a change in Peter he may not have the power to control. But that transformation might also be the only thing that can stop a shocking new threat to the city and those he loves - a powerful villain no one can even see. The world may have forgotten Peter Parker, but he hasn’t forgotten them.

Part of me walked away from this thinking they should just do Spiderman films from now on and let other heroes and villains cameo in them. *Half joking, half not.

@BadgerThorkin - If Marvel would drop all these C & D list heroes and focus exclusively on their A and B characters, they could easily see similar results to these.

@ClarkJoeKent - you make up nonsense like Fiege want to team with Snyder? There’s a reason Fiege didn’t want venom and Sonys low rated movies apart of the MCU he would prefer having something that’s critically better and made less then movies like BVS for instance apart of his world. Also I’m sure he’d rather Gunns DC join then Snyder’s since he already has a relationship with Gunn and his movies don’t seem to be made by an emo director. That being said neither movie franchise is teaming with the MCU at the moment your just making crap up on a post that has 0 to do with DC bc your a hater.

@ClarkJoeKent - that would be fine with me. Based on visuals alone? Snyder would be an upgrade over some of the bland movies. Just like DDC did with Shang Chi making it legit beautiful in terms of visuals and scener. And look at what he did with Wonder Man and this Spidey film. Hes a fan of the material. Unlike others.

Snyder would KILL Midnight sons or ghost rider.
DDC doing those covers was because he’s a fan. Snyder actually sketches his scenes which is why they look so damn good

@ClarkJoeKent - you are comparing it to The suicide squad a movie mid covid pandemic that had a theatre streaming day and date release to Spiderman lol
Supergirl bombed no one is denying that and Superman 2025 after only 1 month in theatre went on VOD. It wasn’t performing bad at all at that point it was the highest grossing superhero movie last year. How about we point out that Gunns first movie in his DCU made more then nearly every Phase 1 solo movie in the MCU with exception of Ironman 2 who topped it by merely 3 million.
It beat 13 movies in the MCU
And
9 movies in the DCEU
There’s some facts without context and it did it with a 1 month release solely in theatres

@whynot - COPE-A-MANIA😂😂 Superman was the highest grossing movie compared to a whole Buch of Marvel movies that FLOPPED is a stretch! It made $612 Million...It UNDERPERFORMED said TED SARANOS under oath! Zack Snyders !st 3 Movies made more money than GUNNS & MARVELS first 3 films! The facts are facts! James Gunn Superman 2025 made $612 Million his 2nd film Supergirl made $122 Million loosing over $400 Million...Zacks Man Of Steel made $690 Million & sold TWICE as many tickets than Gunns Superman in 2013 BvS made $890 Million, Wonder Woman 1st movie $823 Million on a $120 million budget, Aquaman 1st film made $1.2 BILLION!!!!!
So if you think what Gunn has accomplish s great & profitable you need your head examined.
Talk About COPE-A-MANIA😂🤣😂
whynot
whynot - 9/23/2026, 2:09 PM
@ClarkJoeKent - MOS was also in theatres before it hit streaming much longer. Superman was on track to outgross MOS box office. If we are going to discuss inflation with ticket sales. We can say Superman and MOS on paper cost roughly the same to make (225 million budget) and made close to the same at the box office. The big difference isn’t the cost vs box office. It’s what’s the cost of 225 million production budget in 2025 terms with inflation.
But $225M in 2013 ≠ $225M in 2025.

The accurate inflated production cost of MOS was more like $311,176,938.89 in 2025
That's a 43.79% increase
Also ticket prices were cheaper and people were looking forward to seeing a dc cinematic universe after avengers debuted
But MOS was critically panned just like the rest of Snyder’s movies

@whynot - COPE-A-MANIA😂
ClarkJoeKent
ClarkJoeKent - 9/23/2026, 9:06 PM
@whynot - Adjusted for inflation & selling the SAME amount of tickets MOS makes over $900 MILLION. The fan base TURN on Gunns Superman & it sold HALF the amount of tickets of MOS. Gunns Dead Cinematic Universe has been rejected
whynot
whynot - 9/30/2026, 9:51 AM
@ClarkJoeKent - Dan Murrell a box office analyst dissected these 2 movies in his video Superman vs MOS. He went into detail and ended up saying they both probably made about the same profit wise. Superman also had less time in the theatre. You’re comparing inflation hell in 200 years from now if you count inflation “the marvels” will inflate over a billion dollars. That doesn’t mean that it wasn’t a flop. You have to inflate the costs vs boxoffice aswell and you have to look at current economy in 2025 when people can barely afford food yet you want them to go to the movies. MOS dropped 68% weekend 2 vs Superman 2025 dropping 54%.
Tell me what happened to the snyderverse again?
ClarkJoeKent
ClarkJoeKent - 9/30/2026, 3:19 PM
@whynot - you’re suffering from COPE-A-MANIA🤣 MOS sold TWICE as many tickets than Gunns Super-meh😆 adjusted for inflation and selling the same amount of tickets as it did in 2013 MOS makes a BILLION DOLLARS! BvS made a $890 MILLION after finishing in theaters worldwide. Gunns Supergirl cost $200 MILLION to make & made $126 million dollars worldwide🤦🏾‍♂️ Snyder’s Aquaman made a BILLION DOLLARS in theaters & Snyders Wonder Woman made $860 million dollars in theaters. Basically Snyder’s DCEU was the most successful and made the most money for WB. Knuckle draggers like you will still somehow think that’s a flop & Gunn DC is successful 😆
whynot
whynot - 10/3/2026, 9:38 PM
@ClarkJoeKent - firstly your comparing aquaman to supergirl not really a fair comparison. Next you’ll compare wonderwoman to clayfaces box office lol. Curious with all this billion dollar movies you seem to be dreaming about where is the sequels? If MOS made as much as you think it should have gotten an actual sequel.
Also you realize that Superman 2025 unlike MOS made more domestically which studios make more off of then they do internationally. They also make more in the first few weeks box office then they do later in the theatrical run. The drops from week to week for BVS was very telling on how the GA felt about that movie.
MOS
Budget: $225M production + ∼$150M marketing = ∼$375M total
• Box office: $670M worldwide — $291M domestic + $379.1M international
• Net profit: $42.7 million after all expenses and revenues, according to Deadline

Superman 2025
• Box office total: $616-619M worldwide — $354M domestic + $262-264M international — on a $225M production budget
• Theatrical profit: ∼$125 million net profit for Warner Bros. Discovery, per Variety

ClarkJoeKent
ClarkJoeKent - 10/4/2026, 1:11 AM
@whynot - Superman 2025 made $612 Million said Ted Saranos UNDER OATH & LOST over $44 Million dollars before being YANKED from theaters early for UNDER PERFORMING & selling less than HALF the amount of tickets as MOS selling the same number of tickets & adjusted for inflation it makes almost a BILLION. I like how you conveniently left out how much it cost to market Gunns Super-meh...but here's the number..$200 million. BvS theatrical cut was DCs doing not the director. Which his cut was dramatically better. Also making $860 Million dollars before dropping like it did Gunn only wish ONE of his DCU films could do that! Internationally Gunns DCU have been REJECTED! Supergirl is Gunns 2nd DCU film compare that to Zacks 2nd DCEU film (BvS)$860 Million almost a BILLION DOLLARS to Gunss Supergirl $126 Million that cost $200 Million to make😂😂😂
whynot
whynot - 10/4/2026, 11:09 AM
@ClarkJoeKent - ofcourse the first movie for BVS did well. You’re also talking at a time where superhero movies were all hitting close to a billion unless you were Antman lol. So yeah people went out that first weekend to check it out. It kicked a$$ that first weekend at the boxoffice. But most people didn’t return for a second and third viewing hence why it dropped so much week 2. The fact that you have 2 of the 3 biggest superheroes of all time and you don’t crack a billion is crazy! Especially at that time.
You are really pushing the BVS agenda and ignoring the small profit of MOS. Superman 2025 did not make a huge profit but it costs the same as MOS and it made most of its money in the US which brings in more profit especially those first few weekends when studios keep

“ For blockbusters, studios take the biggest cut when you actually want to see it - those first 2 weekends.
It's a sliding scale deal, negotiated per film, but here's the standard Hollywood model:
Domestic (US) split:
• Week 1: 60-70% to studio / 30-40% to theater - for a normal movie
• For a huge blockbuster - Disney/ Marvel, Fast & Furious, etc - they can demand 70-80% in week 1, sometimes 90% in the first week. There are even deals where studios give theaters 100% for the first 3 days just to get max screens.
• Week 2: ∼60% studio / 40% theater
• Week 3-4: 50% / 50%
• Week 5-6+: 35-40% studio / 60-65% theater. These are the "legs" movies theaters love because they finally profit on tickets.”

International is much worse for studios:
• They only keep around 20-40% of foreign grosses
• China specifically: only 25%
• Europe/LatAm: ∼40%
So overall, studios generally only see about ∼50% of global box office gross.

So my point is Superman 2025 made most of its money domestically and in those first few weeks. The profit was much higher. As for Ted from Netflix that was him trying to make a point that’s box office windows should be shorter lol I mean he runs Netflix. Ofcourse he says that. Like I said if you want an accurate breakdown I’d say look at Dan Murrell take on YouTube. He did the Superman vs MOS analysis and broke it down pretty well. They both made about the same profit wise

@whynot - Thats a lot of coping. Superman 2025 UNDERPERFORMED..was pulled EARLY for it..but Gunn said it's so you can watch Peacemaker because that shit water movie ties into it....it didnt😂😂😂😂😂 Just a corporate lie. The movie was failing so to save face...VOD! 😂😂😂 Forbes Magazine reported how it LOST OVER $44 Million..how its an international failure & was rejected. Like supergirl. I dont need anyone to "break it down" for me either. Im pretty well versed in PROFITS & LOSSES...Gunn DC is not profitable. His 2 DCU films says everything. He has no clue what the fan base wants & can only do what his limited creativity will allow. GOTG style ensemble popcorn flicks. No studio is saying if we do ok domestically internationally doesn't matter...😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂COPE-A-MANIA

ClarkJoeKent - 10/4/2026, 9:24 PM
@whynot - Gunn cant sniff a BILLION while Spider-Man is on it way to $3 Billion...crazy😂! Zack Snyders DCEU was the most profitable for DC ever. His 5 movies did better than Walter Hamadas & James Gunns DCU. Easy to pull up also BvS came out the same week as Civil War introducing Spiderman...I bet Gunn would LOVE to have those numbers. Ted Saranos point was Superman 2025 UNDERPERFORMED in theaters..& not streaming well either. Theres plenty of films doing well at theaters. Make a shitty film & nobody wants to see it. Hence Supergirl & Spider-man. If you want an accurate breakdown dont listen to what Gunn/Safran or their shills say. When Forbes say youre loosing money...I believe them & not Gunn who's been lying since hes been at DC

@ClarkJoeKent - is “coping” your catch phrase lol. Spiderman will not come close to 3 billion lol
Superman def had to do with peacemaker. They had an entire plot with Lex Luther that def referenced what he was doing in the film compared to what was going on in the show. So you don’t watch or understand a movie and show yet call it 💩. I’m not gonna keep going back and forth with someone who didn’t even watch a movie or show they debate about. This is just someone who can’t “COPE” with snyderverse gone forever. Cry harder ;)

@whynot - Youre texting me BOOKS😂😂😂Peacemaker had NOTHING TO DO WITH SUPERMAN! 😂😂It lost 70% of VIEWERSHIP after there 3rd episode & was CANCELED!!! WTF did it have to do with Superman? Some weak as link was the reason to yank it from theaters while it was doing soooo good in theaters domestically😂😂😂😂No dat shit flopped!!🤣 Had nothing to do with Superman Gunn stuck Lex in there in the end & nobody understands what Peacemaker has to do with it! Like how's Gunn gonna drop BRAINIAC in MOT with a Star Wars intro to explain😂😂😂😂😂COPE-A-MANIA Spiderman has done $2 Billion & COUNTING! Your coping saying Zacks DC was when movies was doing a BILLION easy😂😂😂😂😂 Zacks 1st three DCU films did BETTER than Marvels 1st THREE! Cope on that. Superman was doin g so good domestically that it was YANKED FOR A REFERENCE in a cable show????😂😂😂😂
