After Preview Night for Comic-Con ended, some mixed reports came out of Hasbro's booth stating that the Marvel Universe 3 3/4 inch action figure line was being canceled in 2014-ish. This was only kind of correct.
In fact, on Friday, a Hasbro representative at SDCC told ComicBookMovie.com's The Daily SuperHero what is really happening to the Marvel Universe toy line. Here's an official report from a Hasbro staffer straight from the Comic-Con showroom floor.
"[Hasbro] does not know who, or why, another staff member was telling reporters and [/or] attendees that the Marvel Universe line is being canceled because it is not. It is slowly transitioning into becoming an Avengers Assemble figure line with new packaging, sculpts and with the same great detail and articulation kids and collectors have grown to love with the Marvel Universe line."
The Hasbro rep also stressed one very important thing regarding the company's focus on Marvel toys.
"A big focus right now is to listen to the collectors and give them want they want which is the best product Hasbro can produce."
So there you have it. Marvel Universe is changing into the Avengers Assemble toy line and is not being canceled and it's important to note that the rebranded toy line will not be solely based on the new animated series on Disney XD.
Now check out some photos below that are straight from Hasbro's booth at SDCC, of the brand new Avengers Assemble 3 3/4 inch action figure line. The first Avengers Assemble figures are scheduled to hit store shelves right before the holiday season later this year.
