ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY And VENOM Star Riz Ahmed Casts Doubt On Rumored Returns To Either Franchise

There's been a lot of speculation online about Riz Ahmed's future with the Star Wars and Venom franchises, but the actor has now made it clear he doesn't anticipate returning to either one of them...

Riz Ahmed got a taste of blockbuster filmmaking with Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Venom, and there's a lot of excitement to see what comes next for the actor. There's been speculation that he might somehow return as Carlton Drake/Riot in Venom: Let There Be Carnage, while fans are optimistic that they'll get to see more of former Imperial pilot Bodhi Rook at some point as well.

During a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Ahmed shot down the possibility of a Rogue One prequel which will incorporate his character (even Andor seems somewhat unlikely).

"I just haven't heard of that, to be honest," he told the trade when asked about a Star Wars return.

As for a possible future in the Venom franchise, the actor pointed out the obvious when he noted, "I think I'm done in Venom. It's pretty conclusive. Dude got blown up in a spaceship."

With both characters dead and gone, Ahmed's comments aren't surprising. However, there will be a lot of fans out there who are disappointed by the fact neither Bodhi nor Riot have a big screen future. There's certainly more which could be done with both characters, but it's likely the actor is keen to move on to other roles...hopefully, those include major parts in the MCU or DCEU!

Time will tell on that front, of course, but the actor has, at least, cleared things up with these projects!

We are currently in a franchise drought. Everyone’s given up on originality in Hollywood. Friggin reboots and spin-offs everywhere man. L

Never seen an actor wasted like the way he was in Venom

He’s an amazing actor who has better things to do. He was wasted in Rogue One and Venom was terrible.

Sound of Metal was fantastic and one of the best films of the year

I mean, both of those movies ended with him being blown up in a spaceship so I'm not surprised he doubts a return. I suppose the good thing about Star Wars is if he did want to return he could either reprise his character in a Prequel, or thanks to makeup and VFX could portray some kind of non-human character so that he looks visually different enough that people don't confuse the characters or whatever.

But he's doing some pretty amazing things anyway at the moment so he's pretty much hitting that point in his career where he can kinda do whatever he wants.

Yeah, didn't feel he was that good in Venom, but he was awesome on The Night Of.

Really like the actor, but both characters were pretty dull. If you're gonna bring someone back to life in Venom it should be Jenny Slate, ya jerks.
