Spider-Man: Homecoming swings into theaters on July 7th, but Box Office Pro already has some thoughts on just how well the Marvel Studios reboot could perform when it's released. After weighing up some of the pros and cons, the site believes that the movie could score an opening weekend of $135 million and a total of $325 million in North America by the time its run comes to an end.
That would be a great result and one which puts Spider-Man: Homecoming in the same league as Spider-Man 3 which debuted with $151 million. This would also make this the second highest debut for a Spider-Man movie since then as $135 million easily eclipses both Spider-Man's $114 million and The Amazing Spider-Man 2's $91 million. So, what are some of the factors working against this one?
The site believes audience fatigue with Spider-Man could come into play, as could the fact that it's coming so soon after Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Wonder Woman. War for the Planet of the Apes and Dunkirk following shortly after could hurt its long-term appeal with adults too, so Spider-Man: Homecoming may need repeat viewings from younger moviegoers to meet these early estimates.
