The Spider-Man 2 movie is expected to cost more than $200 million, according to the Wall Street Journal. The article mentions that the 25% increase in cost from the first movie means high stakes for Sony since this summer has shown costly sequels don’t necessarily pay off big. Sony Corp. of America Chairman and Chief Executive Howard Stringer says the studio is willing to spend what it takes to preserve its most precious properties, the paper said. "This one has got to be right," he says. "You cannot squander the franchise."
