James Franco (Harry Osborn) updated IESB.net on the progress of Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 3: "Although a few scenes have already been filmed, in preparation for the special effects, Franco revealed that principal photography starts next week. He also said that the cast had already done a script reading," the Web site says. The film is expected to shoot in New York from May through September.

Franco wouldn't say if his character will get more villainous in the film but smiled at the question. Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst also return to their roles of Spider-Man/Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson. Topher Grace and Thomas Haden Church have joined the cast as Venom and Sandman, it is reported.

Look for the Columbia Pictures film May 4, 2007.
