Superman director and DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn has taken to Threads to address some of the rumors that have been circulating online over the past few days... while once again noting that he is "mostly done shooting down rumors."
The main rumor Gunn was responding to sprang from a fan noticing that Supergirl star Milly Alcock had deleted several posts relating to the recent DCU movie from her Instagram. This led to speculation that the House of the Dragon star may have been "fired" from her role as the Woman of Tomorrow.
A highly unlikely scenario, of course, even though Supergirl did prove to be a costly flop for the studio.
Gunn also weighed in on reports that Man of Tomorrow recently held a test screening that was met with negative feedback. The filmmaker clarified that the movie has not been screened for anyone, as he was literally just about to show it to fellow DC Studios boss Peter Safran.
Finally, Gunn made it very clear that Matt Reeves has not been "replaced" by Steven Soderbergh as director on The Batman - Part II.
"Oh brother. You guys just have to stop listening to BS, and I'm mostly done shooting down rumors as there are so many and I'm not on here much. But all three of these couldn't be more false. I'm showing PETER SAFRAN my first Director's Cut today - he's the first person to see it obviously - and that's a month early!"
Gunn recently commented on a report that David Ellison paid a visit to the Man of Tomorrow set, confirming that the Skydance boss knows everything that's in the works at DC Studios.
“David knows everything. We told David long ago, and went through what the basic plan was. When he first brought us in and said he wanted to continue on with what we were doing, we told him all that we wanted to do [and talked] about what was happening, the secrets, where was the DCU going, and what was going to happen from Man of Tomorrow on.”
MOT will focus on the Man of Steel (David Corenswet) and Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult) putting their differences aside and joining forces to defend the planet against Brainiac (Lars Eidinger).
Rachel Brosnahan (Lois Lane), Skyler Gisondo (Jimmy Olsen), Sara Sampaio (Eve Teschmacher), Isabela Merced (Hawkgirl), and Maria Gabriella de Faria (The Engineer) have all been confirmed to return.
Adria Arjona confirmed that she filmed her scenes when the movie was "wrapping up" during a recent interview, which may support the rumor that her character - be it Wonder Woman or Maxima - will only have a minor role to set up her next DCU appearance.
Man of Tomorrow will hit theaters on July 9, 2027.
