Nathan Fillion first suited up as Green Lantern Guy Gardner in last summer's Superman movie. From there, he reprised the role in Peacemaker Season 2 alongside Sean Gunn's Maxwell Lord and Isabela Merced's Hawkgirl.

Since then, the Firefly alum has been confirmed for Lanterns, the animated Mister Miracle series, and Man of Tomorrow. One might say that Fillion is becoming the DCU's connective tissue, as he's quickly racking up more appearances in DC Studios projects than any other actor.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Fillion disputed the notion that he's the "anchor being" of longtime friend James Gunn's DC Universe.

"I do think I am a thread being. The quilt of the DC universe is being assembled before us. We’re witnessing the pieces coming forth, and now we’re starting to see threads between those pieces tying them together," he explained. "Guy Gardner is enjoying being one of those characters that is the backdrop to this universe. It affords some consistency."

The magnitude of playing the character isn't lost on Fillion, who added, "When you say Guy Gardner, you will always now say Nathan Fillion in that same breath. I can’t imagine that kind of good fortune."

The actor went on to confirm that at least one big change is being made to Guy in Man of Tomorrow. While he donned the same bowl-cut wig for Superman and Lanterns because they were filmed "pretty close together," in the Superman sequel, "We updated the hairdo just a little bit." Have the bowl-cut gags worn thin? It certainly sounds like we'll get to see a less comical-looking Guy in the movie.

So far, we've only seen David Corenswet and Nicholas Hoult on Man of Tomorrow's set, a stark contrast to Superman, which revealed nearly its entire cast in photos and footage from Cleveland. That may yet be to come, of course.

In a separate interview with ScreenRant, Lanterns star Aaron Pierre was quizzed about bringing John Stewart to the big screen in Man of Tomorrow next summer.

"I can't say much, but what I can say is what a gift it was to have had six months consecutively of six-day weeks and a minimum of 12-hour days to live with John and excavate his character before going into Man of Tomorrow," he shared. "I think my experience on Man of Tomorrow with the wonderful team over there would have been a lot different had I not done the HBO series first."

"[Without Lanterns, I would have gone in there and been discovering in real time, in a very quick pace, who John was, but I already knew who John was going in," Pierre pointed out. "Of course, there's endless amounts of excavation to do now and always beyond this point. But I went in there with a calmness and a steady hand that I'm very grateful for."

In Man of Tomorrow, Superman will be forced to team up with Lex Luthor to battle Brainiac, a threat not just to Metropolis but to the entire world.

Written and directed by James Gunn, the movie stars include David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Lars Eidinger as Brainiac, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Frank Grillo as Rick Flag, Sr., Aaron Pierre as John Stewart, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, and Milly Alcock as Supergirl.

Andre Royo, Matthew Lillard, Sinqua Walls, and Adria Arjona will also star. However, as we mentioned above, we still don't know whether the latter is playing Maxima or Wonder Woman. There's also speculation that Eva De Dominici is playing one of the characters, and there's always a chance the Diana Prince rumblings don't pan out. We'll have to wait and see.

Man of Tomorrow arrives in theaters on July 9, 2027.

@JoshWilding - Feels like Warner saw a guy that was good at flipping burgers and decided he should be the next Executive Chef, and now they wonder why the menue is just burgers.
