Yes, finally Thor Ragnarok has hit Australian cinemas. We've been beyond pumped for this movies impending release here at Rewind Replay, but did it live up to our expectations? Find out in our SPOILER FREE review of Thor Ragnarok.
Chris Hemsworth once again picks up Thor's mighty hammer for one last solo outing as the God of Thunder himself, Thor. This time he is teaming up with the likes of Mark Ruffalo as a very different and very talkative Hulk as well as newcomer to the Thor-verse Tessa Thompson who plays Valkyrie. Joining forces with Loki (Tom Hiddleston) is always a fun risk and one that fans are going to love that they take here in Thor Ragnarok. Facing off against Hela, The Goddess of Death, a seemingly all powerful deity who seeks to rule Asgard and conquer realms beyond the 9 known ones.
This is, what we would consider, the first true comedic outing for an MCU film. Comedy is front and centre here in Thor and thanks to Taika Waititi's exceptional comedic background the comedy hits 9 times out of 10 and left the entire cinema in stitches. Korg, another new comer to the MCU is actually played by Waititi himself and has a real New Zealander sound and feel to him as a result but this only adds to the characters addictive charm and accentuates his humors a great deal.
The action is balls to the wall as you'd expect and once again Hemsworth and Waititi have come together to make sure fans see new aspects of their favorite Thunder God. Gone is Thor's hammer Mjolnir and gone are the long flowing locks of Thor's hair in favor of more fast paced and explosive lighting driven fun. The Hulk vs. Thor fight is hilarious as it is well directed and powerful though we personally feel the final epic battle manages to beat it out.
Riddled with laughs and a brilliant and vibrant new planet of Sakaar, Thor Ragnarok is the strongest of Thor's solo outings by a very long mile and easily the funniest film the Marvel Cinematic Universe has delivered so far.
With only a few minor hindrances, Thor Ragnarok is sure to make you laugh, cheer and walk out of the cinema agreeing, this movie is well worth the price of entry.
