It's been a while since we had any updates on the highly-anticipated final season of Game of Thrones, but now thanks to HBO’s programming president Casey Bloys (via EW) we have some idea of when we can expect to see the last 6 episodes of the fantasy drama series.

While speaking at the Television Critics Association’s press tour in Beverly Hills today, Bloys confirmed that the show would return in early 2019, which will be great news for those worried about the recent rumors that we wouldn't see Jon, Dany, Tyrion and co. until later next year.

No specific date was given, but the previous seasons have all aired late March or April, so around then is probably a safe bet.

Bloys also revealed that the spinoff prequel series won't begin shooting until 2019. Previous reports indicated that it would be sooner, but it seems a director still hasn't been nailed down, yet alone a cast.
