Wonder Woman Star Gal Gadot Shares Advice For DCU Diana Actress Amid Man Of Tomorrow Speculation

At this point, it's clear that Gal Gadot will not reprise the role of Wonder Woman in the DCU, and The Runner star has some advice for the actress who will eventually take over as Diana...

In 2023, Gal Gadot surprised us all by revealing that, as far as she knew, James Gunn and Peter Safran were planning to develop a third Wonder Woman movie, with her back in the lead role as the iconic Amazon warrior.

"I had a meeting with (DC Studios CEOs) Peter Safran and James Gunn, and they both told me that they're going to develop a third Wonder Woman with me," she told USA Today. "They said, 'You're in the best hands, you've got nothing to worry about.' Time will tell."

The actress was all set to reprise the role of Diana for a third film with WW84 director Patty Jenkins back at the helm, but the movie is believed to have been shelved when Gunn and Safran took over as co-heads of DC Studios (though Gunn claims that it was already cancelled when he came aboard).

Last year, we got word that a new Wonder Woman movie is moving forward at DC Studios, with Supergirl writer Ana Nogueira enlisted to pen the script. There is speculation that the hero will make her DCU debut in Man of Tomorrow, however, and a lot of fans are convinced that Adria Arjona has been cast as Diana, not the villainous Maxima.

During an interview with Screen Rant, Gadot shared some advice for whoever does ultimately step into the role.

"This is such an incredible character that so many of us care about so much, so whoever it's going to be to portray her, I wish for her that she enjoys this amazing ride with this amazing character. And I'm just grateful that I was granted the opportunity to wear her boots and celebrate this incredible character and everything she stands for."

The Runner star was also asked if there has been any talk of her potentially playing a different character in the DCU, since Jason Momoa left Aquaman behind to debut as Lobo in Supergirl.

Gadot said that there haven't been any "specific conversations" with Gunn or anyone else at the studio, and that the last time they spoke was when "they came to the studio, and they really wanted to develop the third one."

During a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Gunn responded to a report that Wonder Woman is being "fast-tracked," and while he somewhat downplayed the notion that the project is anywhere close to entering production, he did confirm that the movie is a priority for DC Studios.

"I don’t know what they mean by fast-tracking. [Laughs.] I’ve always had Wonder Woman as a priority. But we got the first few things started, and there’s some other things that are really close to green-lighting — like there’s a television show that I hope that we’re gonna be green-lighting in the next few days. So now a little time has passed, and we really need Wonder Woman and we really need Batman, because they’re so important to us. And so it’s become a little bit more like going to everybody at DC and being like, we need to figure this out. We have good writers on Wonder Woman and we just have to make sure it’s working and they have to not be somebody who’s gonna take two years to write a script."

At this point they may as well call Whedon back in to clean this shit up. Gunn taking over at DC has been the best thing to happen to MARVEL 😆.

Regardless of how people feel about Gal as a person and Wonder Woman , if Gunn & Safran did tell her that they would develop a third WW film with her but then decided to recast & start anew without informing her then that is truly shitty imo…

Granted i liked Gal more then others on here as Diana and felt that while she was/is still not the strongest actress , I feel she conveyed the innocence and naivety of the character well in the first film and felt improved in the emotional moments in the inferior sequel WW 1984 aswell.

Anyway , if they are recasting and Adria is not WW then I’m hoping Monica Barbaro gets it tbh!!.
