Gal Gadot Slams DC Studios' Henry Cavill Treatment; Reveals Real Reason She Won't Return As Wonder Woman

Justice League star Gal Gadot has set the record straight on her DC exit, how DC Studios handled Henry Cavill and Patty Jenkins, and why she'd be reluctant to ever return as Wonder Woman.

In 2023, Gal Gadot told the press that DC Studios co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran had promised her and Patty Jenkins Wonder Woman 3. In response, the trades—clearly furnished with information by the studio—debunked that and made the actress out to be a liar.

Gunn, frequently active on Threads to dismiss online rumours and bicker with fans, remained silent when quizzed about Wonder Woman. It wasn't until last year that we finally learned a solo movie was being fast-tracked.

Gadot has already confirmed that Wonder Woman 3 is off the table, as has filmmaker Patty Jenkins. Now, though, she's opened up to Josh Horowitz about how DC Studios handled her, Jenkins, and Henry Cavill's respective DCEU exits.

"They told me the opposite," the actress said when asked whether Gunn and Safran told her that her time as Wonder Woman was over. "They were like, 'We're going to develop it with you.' But I saw the way everybody else was handled, right? The Henry situation was not handled elegantly, to say the least. Same with Patty. [It] was not handled elegantly."

"I feel like, you know, we're all adults and it's all good. And it's not even about them. They are there, and they're there to do what they believe in, and it's all good," Gadot continued. "I'm so grateful that I got the opportunity to wear these boots and to have the character be so celebrated and be the vessel at that point in time."

Gunn and Safran appear to have handled the Wonder Woman 3 situation poorly, but the Cavill situation was a little more complex. Black Adam star Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson overruled Warner Bros. executives to bring him back into the fold as Superman.

Warner Bros. then had Cavill shoot a now-unseen cameo in The Flash, and plans were being put in place for Man of Steel 2. DC Studios, however, wanted a new, younger Supes, which is understandable. What's largely led to backlash is that Gunn has since brought back other actors from the DCEU—John Cena's Peacemaker, for example—that he previously worked with.

As for whoever picks up where she left off as Wonder Woman, she added, "I can only wish for whoever it's going to come pure to this journey because as much as it's like we're talking about movies and superheroes and blah blah blah, but this character really means so much to so many of us."

"To really use it respectfully and bring all the love and light it can to this world," Gadot noted. "Enjoy the ride. It was never mine. I was always just a vessel. This is Hollywood."

Later in the conversation, talking in general terms about her Hollywood career, the Justice League star revealed why she wouldn't want to reprise the role of Wonder Woman, regardless of any issues with DC Studios.

"Look, it's all about the script and the filmmaker usually. I do think that, you know, for me to go and do, for example, another Wonder Woman, I'm not sure I would at this point in my life with four children," Gadot confirmed, "and different schools and all of that to check out all of them for such a long period of time. It doesn't work with my life anymore at this point."

Adria Arjona is rumoured to play the new Wonder Woman in next summer's Man of Tomorrow. Supergirl writer Ana Nogueira is penning the reboot's script, though there's no word on a release date.

I might be in the minority but i liked WW84. She had a good run (pun intended) now onto the next.

Given the trajectory of age of the actors playing related characters in the MCU, Gadot would not get the call to join.

That are still gonna have Ana Nogiera write this?

Idiots. That’s some serious DEI derangement.
