Wonder Woman Star Gal Gadot Will Return To DC - When Zack Snyder Replaces James Gunn

Justice League star Gal Gadot says she would only return as Wonder Woman if Zack Snyder comes back to run DC, raising fresh questions about her relationship with James Gunn and Peter Safran.

Gal Gadot made her DCEU debut as Diana Prince in 2016's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Fans initially responded positively to her take on Diana Prince, and the actress later took centre stage in Wonder Woman the following year.

As time passed, Gadot's shortcomings as a performer became more apparent. Justice League turned her into a meme, and Wonder Woman 1984 is still widely considered one of the worst DC movies. Cameos in Shazam! Fury of the Gods and The Flash followed, and that was where her run as the Amazon ended.

In 2023, Gadot claimed that DC Studios co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran had promised her and Patty Jenkins Wonder Woman 3. In response, the trades debunked that, and both the actress and filmmaker have since said they were shocked when DC Studios pulled the plug on their planned threequel.

During a recent interview with JoBlo for her critically panned new movie The Runner (it has 9% on Rotten Tomatoes), Gadot told the site that she would only return as Wonder Woman on one condition: the return of Zack Snyder.

"If Zack comes back to run DC, I’ll come back," she said, suggesting she has no interest in working with Gunn and Safran after Wonder Woman 3 was scrapped.

While some fans hope Snyder might be invited back to take charge of DC after Paramount Pictures completes its acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery, that's highly unlikely. For now, Gunn and Safran are expected to remain in charge of DC Studios, though both Clayface and Man of Tomorrow need to succeed to ensure that.

"They told me the opposite," Gadot recently said when asked whether Gunn and Safran told her that her time as Wonder Woman was over. "They were like, 'We're going to develop it with you.' But I saw the way everybody else was handled, right? The Henry situation was not handled elegantly, to say the least. Same with Patty. [It] was not handled elegantly."

"I feel like, you know, we're all adults and it's all good. And it's not even about them. They are there, and they're there to do what they believe in, and it's all good," she continued. "I'm so grateful that I got the opportunity to wear these boots and to have the character be so celebrated and be the vessel at that point in time."

Snyder had planned to direct Justice League 2 and Justice League 3. With nearly a decade since Justice League was released and over five years since Zack Snyder's Justice League, the moment may have passed even for an animated or comic book version of those stories.

Would you like to see Snyder and Gadot reunited in a restored DCEU?

Don't worry, I'm sure some will love the bogos today and buy it...for a dollar of course or something like.

@TemporarilyHere - you can ad me to that list of tags. Honestly the worst DCEU movie was better than the best this new DCU has produced. I still think The Snyder Cut is one of the best DC movies ever made and the most comic book feeling and paced comic book movie that's been made. Watching The Snyder Cut feels like reading a DC comic. I love the MCU but even the best MCU movies don't REALLY feel like a comic book brought to life, but more like an adaptation for film. The Snyder Cut is straight up a comic book made into a film, same with WATCHMEN for obvious reasons.

But yeah, the Snyderverse certainly had its issues, but is WAY WAY WAY better than the DC crap were getting now.

I'll make sure to avoid interacting with you in the future, as I've no time and even less respect for anyone who calls themselves a fan of a franchise that only exists as self-proclaimed elitist superiority.

May you for ever receive from your favourite creators nothing but the utmost inferior quality that you just admitted to perceive on others.

all that because I gave you my opinions of movies?

My bad, as this is the first time I can recall ever interacting with you, I had no idea you were so emotionally fragile. You can't be so sawft around here when everyone talks about opinions.

If you wanna avoid interacting with me because I like different things than you, I'd say you're doing me a favor. Nobody needs THAT degree of whining following them around, and I certainly don't need you whining about my opinions when I decide to share them. So please do avoid me, and any one else who might be so bold as to share their perspective publicly....

Yeah because supergirl is pure gold LMAO.
UltimaRex

@MaxPaint - that'd be new laundry. Which no one will be concerned with 4 years from now when Gunn will be picking up his third contract.

Plus, I dare you to say Gal Gadot is a better actress than Milly Alcock.
ArthurFuchsache
ArthurFuchsache - 9/3/2026, 11:03 AM
@MaxPaint - yes, airing old laundry. It means to talk publicly about private personal problems.

Dont see how that has anything to do with Supergirl.
MaxPaint
MaxPaint - 9/3/2026, 12:13 PM
@ArthurFuchsache - So let me get this straight: exposing workplace intimidation and the mistreatment of women on a major film set is just "airing old laundry"?

It wasn’t a private spat—it happened in a professional workspace surrounded by witnesses. Trivializing coercion and career threats as petty drama creates an impossible double standard where victims are blamed for staying silent, only to be discredited when they finally speak out.

Real accountability means ditching performative awareness and recognizing that calling out abuse is about dismantling systemic toxicity, not stirring up trouble.

Milly Alcock may have not "air old laundry" but she definitely has said more than controversial things that harmed the image of supergirl for sure.

Both mOS and BVS were financial disappointments so how would bringing back Snyder and his murder Batman and cucked Snyder man help DC?
newhire13
newhire13 - 9/3/2026, 9:44 AM
@KennKathleen - Except Gunn is here because Snyder screwed it up lol. The fact that BvS has terrible reviews and a historic second week drop because people didn’t go back to see it again was the beginning of the end.

SenorTwats - 9/3/2026, 9:45 AM
@PS118 - probably because those 2 'financial disappointments' made far more money than the current 2 DCU entries

@PS118 - On top of doing a better job this time, let's not forget that the last round was far better than everything, no EVERYTHING brought out since GunnDCU.

I think the tones were too dark and the pacing was too fast in the Snyderverse.

Fix those two things, and we the rest is good to go.

On the other hand, James Gunn is a one trick pony:

Group Stupidity.

It's like mozzarella sticks. They may be cool for an appetizer, but no one wants to follow up with more mozzarella sticks for dinner and dessert. Ya dig?
LeonNova

@KennKathleen - The Snyderverse was getting curb-stomped by the MCU left and right. Justice League with 600M at the box office, Infinity War with 2 Billion. There is no reality where the DCU was ever a credible competitor.
KennKathleen
KennKathleen - 9/3/2026, 11:50 AM
@LeonNova - I believe Snyder has a far better chance at becoming the credible competitor than Gunn.

For the record- I wasn't a fan of Batman v Superman.

I wanted it to be better, and I hated the disappointment of what it was.

Still, I'd rather see Snyder give it another shot over what is happening with Gunn.

Why?

Because I'd rather see someone try to improve in making movies I want to see, than watch someone make terrible versions of things I didnt want to see in the first place.
MaxPaint
MaxPaint - 9/3/2026, 11:54 AM
