Daredevil: Born Again Star Charlie Cox Breaks Silence On Cancellation And Whether He's Leaving The MCU

Daredevil: Born Again star Charlie Cox has addressed the show's shock cancellation after the upcoming Season 3, and weighs in on whether his time in the MCU has now reached its end.

During Marvel Television's panel at New York Comic Con yesterday afternoon, it was confirmed that Daredevil: Born Again will end with Season 3. The news was met with resounding boos, but the decision has been made, and the series will end next Spring.

Now, Charlie Cox has broken his silence on Marvel Studios' decision to end Daredevil: Born Again. The actor appears to have no hard feelings about the show's conclusion, and crucially, seems to believe this isn't the final time he'll wield the Man Without Fear's Billy Clubs.

In an interview with ScreenRant, Cox was asked directly whether Season 3 is the end of the road for Matt Murdock. While he stopped short of confirming his eventual MCU return, he seems confident that something will follow.

"Do I think we have seen Matt for the last time? I honestly don't know, I'd hate to speculate, but I don't think so," the actor mused. "I think there will be something, [it] might not be for a long time, but there are [ways] I think he will show up somehow, somewhere."

In a separate conversation with IGN, Cox said the return of the Defenders brings their story "full circle" and offers "some kind of closure."

Pushed on his Daredevil future, he once again hedged his bets. "Don't know, man. I don't know," he told the site. "I mean, it might be. It might be. Don't worry about Kevin [Feige]. Get the Save Daredevil campaign on the horn. Get them motivated. That engine, that won't stop until there's some resolution. That's my true superpower -- is the Save Daredevil campaign!"

As you'll see in the video below, Entertainment Weekly also caught a few moments with Cox, though he largely focused on his gratitude for the fans and the fact that Daredevil was resurrected for three seasons of Daredevil: Born Again (something he never expected would happen).

With Avengers: Secret Wars and Spider-Man 5 on the horizon, Marvel Studios will surely find a place for Cox's Daredevil in one or both of them.

Daredevil: Born Again Season 3's cast includes Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil, Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Wilson Bethel as Bullseye, Nikki M. James as Kirsten McDuffie, Margarita Levieva as Heather Glenn, Clark Johnson as Cherry, and Matthew Lillard as Mr. Charles.

Krysten Ritter, meanwhile, will return as Jessica Jones, alongside Mike Colter as Luke Cage, Finn Jones as Danny Rand/Iron Fist, and Elodie Yung as Elektra Natchios.

The series is expected to return to Disney+ next March.

Man , it just seems like the street level MCU side was really beginning to bloom with Born Again & BND but now it’s being brought to an abrupt end (atleast for now) with this BS cancellation.

I’m glad the audience booed the cancellation announcement at the panel so Marvel realizes the mistake they made…

Anyway , hopefully we atleast get Daredevil in Spider Man 5 and a Heroes for Hire show with Danny , Luke & Jessica alongside Misty & Colleen sooner then later!!.

Incompetent writers and show runners. How do you screw this up when Netflix did all the ground work for you? Instead, we have the same people doing the same stupid things. People stopped watching because you introduced and entirely new cast that no one cares about. How many times do we need to go through this?

To me, this is the worst failure because all they had to do was continue the SAME show.

Daredevil must continue.

Nothing else is acceptable.

Daredevil BA was pretty bad, season 2 was marginally better until the God-awful finale.
My favourite bit was when Jessica Jones appeared out of nowhere did a massive info dump, was in a fight then vanished for a bit - quality writing

I'm truly not worried. Technically this was a new show "Daredevil Born Again" not just "Daredevil" so I fully envision a world where there is either yet ANOTHER daredevil show named something else to have a self contained story, or he becomes a character that pops in and out of other franchises, which is totally fine.

Daredevil Born Again kind of lives outside of the MCU even if it's technically in it. They might just want to scrub that all away and have a "new" show after secret wars in the cleaned up timeline that makes more sense within the world and tighten things up.

There is NO WAY they are shelving the character

TheVisionary25 - 10/9/2026, 9:15 AM
@SATW42 - true

The Born Again title was more meta anyway and also dealt thematically with the story in S1 of him putting away the suit and then having to put it back on.

S2 you could say the city was Born Again after the end of Fisk’s regime and perhaps there is a new rebirth in S3 such as the Defenders etc.

If we go further then that the title wouldn’t make sense anymore so ending one run and going to another possibly feels very comic booky

Cox as Daredevil is on par with Evans as Cap, Downey as Iron Man, Hiddleston as Loki and Hamill/Conroy as Joker and Batman. Just absolutely spot on and some of the best casting ever. I truly hope he FINALLY gets to be in an MCU movie. LONG overdue. I have a small hope seeing as Frank made it into the movies in BND.

@MotherGooseUPus -

You already know he’s going to show up in secret wars.

*daredevil shows up
Spider-Man: “wait, I thought you were a lawyer??”
Daredevil: “that’s my day job. You should get one.”

Charlie is a massive W as far as casting. He's perfect. While I did enjoy the BA seasons, they weren't up to par with Netflix. That said, we shouldn't lose Cox as Murdock. Please keep him around, even if it's just popping up in Spider-Man or Punisher stuff going forward. If you bring Vincent back as Kingpin also, it's time for him to get his hands on some Super Soldier serum or something.
