STRANGER THINGS: TALES FROM '85 Posters Reveal New Character Voiced By Odessa A’zion

Netflix has released a series of posters for the animated Stranger Things: Tales From '85 series, and they feature a new character named Nikki Baxter (Odessa A’zion)...

Netflix's Stranger Things recently wrapped its fifth and final season, but we will soon return to Hawkins to reunite with Eleven, Mike, Lucas, Dustin, Will, Max, Hopper, and the others for a new animated series set between the events of seasons 2 and 3.

Tales from '85 is set to premiere on April 23, and Netflix (via Collider) has now released a series of posters spotlighting some very familiar faces, along with a brand-new character: Nikki Baxter, who will be voiced by I Love LA breakout star Odessa A’zion.

Here's what showrunner Eric Robles had to say about introducing Nikki to the franchise during an interview with Collider.

“Nikki is a 14-year-old transfer student from the East Coast — by way of all over. She’s kind and loyal, unafraid to use her intimidating size and punk-rock look to warn off any bullies that might try to cross her.”

“We wanted Nikki Baxter to help guide a new generation of viewers into the incredible world of Stranger Things," he went on. "Nikki arrives in Hawkins at a pivotal moment — the government conspiracies, secrets, mysteries, and monsters that have stalked the tiny Indiana town for two seasons have seemingly been put to bed for the moment. This means that Nikki provides a fresh new perspective on the status quo, shaking up dynamics and points-of-view. And perhaps even more importantly, she brings us — and the rest of the Stranger Things crew — an exciting, fresh roster of danger and monsters unlike anything our kids have ever faced before.”

Check out the posters below, along with the recently released trailer.

Producing alongside Robles are Matt and Ross Duffer, Hilary Leavitt via Upside Down Pictures, Shawn Levy via 21 Laps, and Dan Cohen.

The main show's cast will not return to voice their respective characters, with Brooklyn Davey Norstedt taking over as Eleven, Jolie Hoang-Rappaport as Max, Luca Diaz as Mike, Elisha “EJ” Williams as Lucas, Braxton Quinney as Dustin, Benjamin Plessala as Will, Brett Gipson as Hopper, Jeremy Jordan as Steve, as well as Janeane Garofalo and Lou Diamond Phillips.

Welcome back to Hawkins in the stark winter of 1985, where the original characters must fight new monsters and unravel a paranormal mystery terrorizing their town in Stranger Things: Tales From ’85, an epic new animated series.

Nice posters , I dig the art style!!.

I haven’t seen Marty Supreme as of yet so idk how Odessa’s acting chops are but she’s damn beautiful…

Anyway while there’s definitely retconning going on with the inclusion of Nikki into the crew (which I still feel they could give an explanation for by the end in regards to why she’s not mentioned after) , I think this show still seems fun so I’ll try to check it out when it releases!!.

Ugh. Just let this show die. It’s not Game of Thrones or Star Wars. Beyond the damn 80s nostalgia, it’s actually very average.

smh Netflix trying to milk as much as they can from their only cash cow.

The Duffer Bros said "artistic integrity", Netflix said "but..."

Ah well it matters not. I'm not even gonna think about it any more. Instead I think I'll do what most people are doing right now and hype myself up for the new He-Man movie by watching Netflix's best MOTU-related show, She-Ra.

Wait, WHERE THE [frick] DID IT GO?!

Another original Netflix show bites the dust, never to be seen again. Since Netflix hate physical media once it's gone it's gone. I can't believe they do this even with their own original shows. These guys are a cancer on culture. They hate art and the curation of it. And these are the dudes who want Warner Bros?

They're pure evil!

If making secret pacts with the Satanic Temple ain't evil I don't know what is.

@ObserverIO - Seems only few want to recognize the satanic influence that appears to be absolutely everywhere.

This takes place between seasons 2 and 3 but the show characters never ever mention this addition to their group. Strange! Dollars to donuts she dies at the end of the show. After season 5 im done with stranger things. IF i ever watch it again im stopping after the first season.

They should've let that Odessa girl play the Mexican character, I wouldn't have had a problem with it. People are too damn uptight. I mean if we're going that route. Pedro Pascal shouldn't be playing Reed Richards.

And also, thank goodness this shit didn't happen years ago, with people having a problem with a Jewish New Yorker playing Mexicans, otherwise we wouldn't have gotten the iconic Mark Margolis as Hector Salamanca in Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul.
