Ahsoka Season 2 Trailer Features Anakin Skywalker, The Clone Wars Flashbacks, And Thrawn Unleashed

Star Wars fans were hoping Ahsoka Season 2 would return to Disney+ this year, but it turns out we won't have to wait too long for the show's highly anticipated return (Season 1 premiered way back in 2023). The show premieres on Disney+ on January 20, 2027, and Lucasfilm has just shared the first trailer and poster (via SFFGazette.com)

The new season, which once again stars Rosario Dawson in the titular role, is set after the fall of the Empire and the rise of the New Republic, which has Ahsoka confronting what it means to be a Jedi, while the galaxy faces a formidable opponent in Grand Admiral Thrawn.

Ahsoka creator and Lucasfilm President and CCO Dave Filoni, along with stars Rosario Dawson, Hayden Christensen, and Eman Esfandi, took to the stage at the Honda Center in Anaheim last night for D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, where they debuted the teaser to an enthusiastic response from fans in the building.

The epic sneak peek puts Anakin Skywalker front and centre as he guides Ahsoka both in the past—via flashbacks to The Clone Wars—and in the present. Meanwhile, Grand Admiral Thrawn has returned to the Galaxy and declares war on the Rebel Alliance on behalf of the Empire.

Baylan Skoll's mysterious mission is also teased, and this next batch of episodes looks suitably epic. How this war sets the stage for the eventual rise of the First Order remains to be seen, though the two may not even be connected, given that the sequel-era faction was formed of Imperials who fled to the Outer Rim after Return of the Jedi.

There's plenty of lightsaber action and the kind of big-scale space set pieces that were sorely missed in The Mandalorian and Grogu earlier this year. For Star Wars Rebels fans, those characters will still be front and centre, with Ezra Bridger showing off his Jedi skills in the trailer.

Season 2 continues the story of Ahsoka Tano and her extraordinary journey beyond the known galaxy. As Ahsoka and her Jedi apprentice Sabine Wren travel across a mysterious and perilous world to find their way home, their friends Hera, Ezra, Zeb, and Chopper must face the powerful Grand Admiral Thrawn and his sinister allies, who seek to plunge the New Republic into war.

Ahsoka stars Rosario Dawson, Natasha Liu Bordizzo, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Lars Mikkelsen, Eman Esfandi, Ivanna Sakhno, Rory McCann, and Hayden Christensen.

The directors are Dave Filoni, Jennifer Getzinger, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Anders Engström. The series is written by Dave Filoni, who also serves as an executive producer along with Jon Favreau and Carrie Beck. Karen Gilchrist is the co-executive producer, and John Bartnicki and Joan Schneider are the producers.

As noted, Ahsoka Season 2 premieres on January 20 on Disney+.

I enjoyed the first season but this looks NEXT LEVEL! Seems like they are really leaning into what worked in season 1 with Ahsoka and Anakin’s relationship. Loving the look of this and can’t wait.

I like season 1, and I will always love Rosario.

But it will be VERY hard for me to get very excited for anything Star Wars after all the sh!t they have pooped out over the last 11 years.
