In the first footage from Avengers: Doomsday, it's clear that a large number of MCU heroes will need to come together to stop Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom.
Officially released footage shows that a big part of the film will be a truce, or at least a temporary one, between Wakanda and Atlantis Talokan, who need to combine forces to stop what is likely an Incursion event- which is essentially two separate universes slamming into each other because the cosmic wall between them has eroded due to reckless multiversal travel.
Letitia Wright, who plays Princess Shuri and is the current Black Panther in the MCU (at least until David Jonsson takes over in Black Panther III), recently stopped by BBC Radio to briefly promote Doomsday.
The MCU veteran teased, "What I love about Avengers is that it really is an ensemble and you get your moments. We just dropped a trailer, so if you haven't seen that yet, click on Instagram. We all have an equal part in trying to take Doom down. "
The BBC Radio host then takes time out to praise Wright's performance as Princess Shuri, calling it brilliant. That was something the Emmy-nominated actress was grateful to hear as she remarked, "I appreciate that, because sometimes it doesn't feel like people see it and for you to say that, it's actually encouraging me a lot."
Namor actor Tenoch Huerta Mejia also previously hinted at the truce between Wakanda and Talokan, stating, "These two guys, they have history, they have a story, and they hurt each other; maybe they hate each other. But maybe they can recognize themselves in the other's face. And from that connection, she asks him to make a big decision, a really, really hard decision. And because of her, because she says, 'You must,' he can understand and say okay. When your enemy tells you something like that, it's painful...but I'm here in front of you, humbly asking you to do this. Oh my god, as an actor, it blows my mind."
In Avengers: Doomsday, beloved heroes from three distinct universes will be set on a deadly collision course and face an existential threat unlike anything they’ve ever encountered.
