While Avengers: Doomsday is shaping up to be a huge movie, Avengers: Secret Wars—the Multiverse Saga's finale—promises to be bigger in every possible way.
For now, Marvel Studios is keeping the focus on Doomsday, but if the MCU follows the comics, we can expect Secret Wars to be a superhero movie like no other. We're also expecting the movie to have suitably giant-sized cast. Has that now been revealed by prolific social media scooper @MyTimeToShineH?
While we'd strongly suggest taking this with a pinch of salt (the insider has been sharing a lot of AI-generated content lately), we're giving this claim the benefit of the doubt for now.
As you'll see below, there's a real mix of characters from the MCU and beyond. Surprises include some small-screen superheroes like Luke Cage, Elektra, the Robbie Reyes version of Ghost Rider, and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Quake. It seems the Guardians of the Galaxy are poised to return, but what's the deal with that version of Iron Man? Could the Superior Iron Man rumours that have circled these next Avengers movies for years finally pan out?]
Head-scratching additions include Sophie Turner's Jean Grey, Eric Bana's Hulk, Evan Peters' Quicksilver, the mid-2000s era Fantastic Four, Lana Condor's Jubilee, and more 20th Century Fox X-Men.
We also see characters who fans have been hoping will factor into Avengers: Secret Wars, including Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man Variants and Hugh Jackman's Wolverine.
Will any of this pan out, or is it simply a lucky guess? Time will tell on that front, but we are hearing rumblings that Marvel Studios has something big planned for Avengers: Secret Wars' eventual cast reveal...
The confirmed (or semi-confirmed, at least) cast of Avengers: Secret Wars includes Robert Downey Jr. (Doctor Doom), Chris Evans (Steve Rogers), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Anthony Mackie (Captain America), Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange), Paul Bettany (The Vision), Letitia Wright (Black Panther), Simu Liu (Shang-Chi), Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova), and Hayley Atwell (Peggy Carter).
Also appearing are Pedro Pascal (Mister Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby (Invisible Woman), Joseph Quinn (Human Torch), Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Thing), Sadie Sink (Jean Grey), and Noah Jupe.
The Russo Brothers direct Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars from a screenplay by Stephen McFeely, with whom they previously collaborated on the Avengers and Captain America franchises. Loki and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness writer Michael Waldron has also been enlisted to refine the story, alongside Spider-Man: Brand New Day's Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers.
Avengers: Doomsday is set to be released on December 18, with Avengers: Secret Wars scheduled to arrive on December 17, 2027.
