Why was Thor crying in Deadpool & Wolverine?
Ryan Reynolds has all but guaranteed that Deadpool will appear in some capacity based on some cryptic hints at San Diego Comic-Con and D23.
While on the red carpet for his new Apple TV movie Mayday, co-starring Kenneth Branagh, Reynolds continued to play about Wade Wilson's inclusion in the first installment of the two-part Avengers pic.
When asked about the D23 video where he seemingly forced Hugh Jackman to pitch Kevin Feige on including Wolverine and Deadpool in Doomsday, Reynolds jokingly stated, "I have been extrapolating the meaning behind that video since it came out. And I still don't know. There's a lot to unpack there."
When the interviewer then asked about why Thor was crying while holding the 'Merc with a Mouth' in Deadpool & Wolverine, Reynolds quipped, "Don't we all want to know. Why was Thor crying? I want to know too. We will find out at some point. And I'm excited for people to find out."
The conversation then turns to Reynolds' brief stint as Hal Jordan and what he thinks of the new HBO Max series Lanterns and Kyle Chandler's take on the character.
"I would totally do a cameo in that. I would love it. I learned so much making that movie. And I know what you're thinking, 'Oh, you learned what not to do...', in part, yes. But also, anytime you're makin something that large, there are core lessons that come of it. And I owe my entire career to that movie. It was really the foundation of how to make more for less. I think too much time and too much money and really hurt creativity."
Elsewhere, Adria Arjona was out promoting her upcoming role as in Adam Wingard's Onslaught, which arrives in North American theaters this Friday. In the film, Arjona plays Celeste, a single mother and traumatized former Army sniper dealing with PTSD. Her skills and trauma are put to the test when out of control, homicidal super soldiers cross her path.
Talking to Men's Journal, Arjona teased that all the training and stunt work in the film was the perfect prep for her mystery role in James Gunn's Superman sequel, Man of Tomorrow.
"All the training that I did for this, I think once you do an action movie and you’re like, ‘Oh my god, wait, I can do it.’ I think I was more afraid before this movie,” Arjona stated.
She continued, “I’m thankful to this movie. I did it, I told myself and reassured myself that I was able to do it. So, now, walking into DC, I’m like, ‘Okay.’ I feel less nervous about going into the stunt department.”
While that's not confirmation of the identity of her role, it does lend credence to the notion that Arjona is playing either Maxima or Wonder Woman in the DCU film that also includes David Corenswet's Man of Steel, Milly Alcock's Supergirl, the Green Lanterns John Stewart and Guy Gardner - played by Aaron Pierre and Nathion Fillion, respectively and Xolo Maridueña's Blue Beetle. Also expected to return are Isabela Merced's Hawkgirl and Edi Gathegi's Mister Terrific.
