Amid almost universal praise from critics, Marshall Fine of Hollywood & Fine has produced the inevitable first negative review for ‘The Dark Knight Rises’, a review that slams the film’s 'over-use' use of action, citing a lack of ‘adventure’ and a script that fails to impress.

Whilst many of us will have to wait a few more days before we can definitively argue against or perhaps even support Fine’s almost scathing review, other critics have labelled the trilogy’s finale as an ‘epic’ 'masterpiece'.

Only after a what can only be described as an overly harsh evaluation of the intellect of society's youth and a critical analysis of the movies villain Bane, does Fine finally compliment an element of the film in the form of Anne Hathaway’s portrayal of Selina Kyle/Catwoman.

Fine is known by some for being one of the few critics to dislike 2008's 'The Dark Knight', his reasoning being that there were too many characters involved and therefore too many stories being told simultaneously.

In his review there is however praise given for the first film in the trilogy, 'Batman Begins', a movie that has somewhat slipped under many people’s radars since the overwhelming success of its sequel.

The question will be whether this review - harsh as it may be - is simply publicity-seeking journalism at its best, by a man who labels his own site as 'Movies for Smart People', or, simply one critic's honest opinion?
