I agree!

Also I cannot believe the ratings this show is getting on a Monday! It is killing The Flash, Arrow, Agents of Shield, and Agent Carter!

One last note I crack how trolls on this site say WB/DC cannot be successful without Batman......yet when this show as announced they laughed at no Batman and said the show was D.O.A.! Yet look how the show is very successful without featuring Batman.........

@JoeMomma29

Do you think a lot of that is accessibility? The characters in this show are much more well know to non-comic book familiar people. In addition, the structure of the show is basically a procedural cop drama/mob struggle which isn't anything new on TV either.

@MrAisa

I agree it is another form of SUV or some other popular cop drama etc.....

I am sure people were drawn to the show because of Batman and yes they are very familiar with some the baddies like The Penguin and The Riddler. What is amazing is how the show has keep the ratings even though it is apparent we are not getting Batman at all.

Also I think FOX has made a formula on a old cop/detective drama. They have infused comicbook characters with a cop show!

They seem to have found the perfect mix. This is why I shake my head at people who say "This comic book thing is going to bust at some point," because it doesn't have to. Comic book, or even Superhero based X is not a genre, its a way of treating genres. Gotham is proto-supervillian Law and Order, Winter Soldier was a spy action/thriller, GotG was a Science-Fantasy space opera, etc. As long as the quality stays high there is no reason this Golden Age ever has to end.

Well television we are fine, but I do worry in cinematic world. Reason being is to many movies every year will divide the market........ It has happened to movies like Pixar, you do not see as many of those type of movies being released and only a few will do great.

I am not saying the movies will go away but people will have a hard time seeing all the movies hence a battle over box office revenue. I mean look at 2016's line up!

Marvel Studios 2 movies

DC 2 movies maybe three if they push out a Vertigo slated movie.

FOX 2 movies

SONY - 0 movies

That is six to seven movies and more than likely in 2017 we are looking 7 to 8 movies.

Now every time I go to the movies I take my family and on average it cost $45 to $55.00 bucks for tickets and than another $35.00 for concessions. So lets say $70.00 bucks per movie.

Dang that is $500.00 in movies alone, some people cannot afford to do that, because you need to factor in other movies that not CBMs being released as well.

What you are describing seems to me to be a problem with the movie industry in general, which I keep hearing is in trouble. I suppose that means you are right and there will be a definite shrinking but I maintain that as long as the quality can be maintained, any decrease will be commensurate with a decrease in the film industry at large. Unless the studio reaction across the board is to maintain the status quo but slash budgets which would hurt CBM's more than other types of movies.

The Fish takes over the prison arc is not at all believable. Some of it is cringe worthy, but some of it is fun. I like the way she threatened the guards.

At the start I really didn't see a point to this show, but it definitely started to grow on me over the time. There are still things I dislike, but there's less of those things than I'd expected.

The one thing right now that they just should've cut imo is Fish Mooney's solo part. She was bad enough when she was one of the players in Gotham, but having to watch just her... please no.

There is something about this show that makes me want some more.... its got class! and has captured the true sense of Gotham City.
