Bleeding Cool has learned from a "good newspaper source" that Geoff Johns, former writer of Green Lantern and current writer of Justice League and Forever Evil, will form a new creative team on Superman with artist John Romita Jr. After learning that Johns had cut back on most books to helm a solo title, Bleeding Cool expects an official announcement from DC soon.

So Superman will have a big head? Keep Rocafort on art. Roca is top notch talent, Romita is an acquired taste.

JRJR's art works in some books and gives you nightmares in others. We shall see..

Its probably because the Superman titles are not doing as well as you would expect Superman titles to be doing. So hopefully Johns turns things around and gives us quality stories like he did with Green Lantern and Aquaman.

He already did with Gary Frank in Legion of Super Heroes arc, Brainiac saga and Secret Origin miniseries.

ALTHOUGH, It's good to know that an artist with such heavy name recognition and an almost exclusively Marvel resume' like JRJR is going to work on such a high profile DC series. I WILL acknowledge the significance of that.

Just keep Rocafort.

Not feeling John Romita Jr. I used to love his stuff but it only looks good to me now when Dean White works his magic. If it wasnt for exclusive contracts it would have been cool to see someone like Coipel take a stab at or a return to Leinil Yu.

Or put Ivan Reis or Jim Lee on it, Supes doesnt seem to be as stylistically flexible as Batman to me, you need something that looks dynamic. Matter of fact pull Capullo off Batman, throw him on Supes then get Sean Gordon Murphy on Batman :)

@mbembet Yah, but what about us Superman fans lol?

You're good on that, because Geoff Johns doesn't write Batman as much as he does Superman, Green Lantern, and The Flash.

While it hurts to see an artist who has been at Marvel all his life go to DC, if we had to lose one I'm glad it was Romita Jr.

WOW!! A lot of mixed feelings, crazy feelings about this. Crazy news.

As a huge Superman fan I'm stocked that Lodbell is finally off this title. He was great when he wrote stories with H'el but everything else was total crap.
Especially in the last issue when he made Clark risk Lois's life to keep his identity secret, That was too much for me. So just happy that Superman is getting a new writer.

Kinda happy and skeptical about Johns. i love Johns and think he's a fantastic writer but I wasn't that enamored by his previous run on the man of steel. Even the new 52 Superman, I didn't like how Johns portrayed him while writing JL. So cautiously optimistic with Johns coming on.

Now the really bad, horrifying news. JRJR as the "artist". I [frick]ING HATE THIS GUYS "ART". I love Cap but couldn't pick it up because of this guys horrible work. I love Superman and have been collecting this series through all the bumps but I don't know if I can continue with this guy on the book now. WHY DC? WHY???!!!!!

Excited for Johns on Supes, Romita Jr ... not so much. Just keep rocafort, or bring Ivan Reis on the title, and put someone else on JL.
