It's been nearly 30 years since Mark Waid and Alex Ross first released the four-issue miniseries Kingdom Come and it looks as if Waid is ready to revisit that DC Elseworld.
Kingdom Come is set in an alternate future of the DC Universe, where the new generation of heroes have decided to become judge, jury, and executioner, and in some ways, are as bad as the villains they fight. Superman, Wonder Woman, and Batman must come out of retirement to make one last stand for truth and justice.
Kingdom Come is a highly acclaimed graphic novel, winning numerous awards, including the Eisner Award for Best Limited Series and the Harvey Award for Best Graphic Album of the Year. It is considered one of the greatest superhero comics ever written.
In his recent Batman/Superman: World's Finest run, Waid has been revisiting his old Kingdom Come ideas, providing an origin story for the villainous Magog.
