Batman 3 2012 Film Rumors: Is "The Long Halloween" to be the Basis of the Next Film?

With the possibility of Two Face in Batman 3, will Nolan look to "The Long Halloween" for influence?

Batman Begins introduced Carmine Falcone as the mob boss who Bruce Wayne faced and Falcone's own words were that which caused Wayne to disappear and eventually get training with the League of Shadows that would become the basis of Batman's training too.

Batman eventually captures Falcone in the first film and Falcone then goes crazy under Scarecrow's drugs.

In The Dark Knight, the Falcone empire is still functioning under the control of Sal Maroni (played by actor Eric Roberts), but then The Joker steps in and he makes a big mess of the underworld the mob controlled in Gotham.

With the news (according to MTV News) that actor Aaron Eckhart, who played Harvey Dent/Two Face, has been asked by director Christopher Nolan to reprise his role as Two Face in the third film the plot of Batman 3 may somewhat feed off of "The Long Halloween" storyline.

In "The Long Halloween," The Joker does play a big role in the events of the story and we all know according to The Dark Knight, The Joker will not be making an appearance in the third film. Also, Nolan does not follow down the same road as the original stories he used as influence for the first two films which were "Batman: Year One," and "The Killing Joke."

No Aaron Eckhart was not offered a role in Batman 3 he said if they needed him he would reprise his role but never did he say he was offered a chance to return.

Long Halloween is already the basis for Dark Knight it doesn't really have allot of story in it left to adapt anyway since a large amount of it was used in The Dark Knight.

There has been no real news at all if any comes it would be official word from those involved not a website.

i agree with AlReg, The Dark Knight was based on The Long Halloween and The Killing Joke. and Batman Begins was allegedly also based on The Long Halloween and Year One.
and nolan said the Joker wont be back
and he wouldnt sacrifice his legitimacy by bringing Dent back, unless he had a REALLLLY good explanation

the long halloween was the influence to TDK and retold two faces origin, so Batman 3 could easily be based on the sequel to long halloween, which is dark victory.
All you have to do is replace the hangman with riddler, take out robin (or if he makes it an older batman to come back there could be robin), and only hint at Catwoman.
Dark Victory original villains: Hangman, 2 face, catwoman.
Nolans version: Riddler, Catwoman (full or hinted) and 2face (hinted or full)

I'm not the kind to mock people, but, HA HA HA to anyone who actually thinks "Firefly", "Deadshot" (more likely than Firefly, imo), and "Black Mask" (more likely than Firefly and Deadshot, but still unlikely) will appear in Batman 3. You will be disappointed.

Of course Nolan is trying to satisfy us, true Bat fans, but he still has an obligation to put the best and more popular and well known foes in the film, you know, for the casual movie goers.

I like the idea of the Long Halloween or Dark Victory being the theme, considering I LOVE the two stories. I think Holiday or the Hangman could be cool characters Nolan can toy with, still I think the Riddler will be your primary villain, and not the pussified Riddler from these two stories, a more sinister and psychological, my guess "Zodiac" style riddler.

I think Depp SHOULD play him, but wouldn't mind Leo, Guy Pierce, or that guy from Dexter you guys are always referring to. I hear all the JGL rumors, and I realllly like him as an actor, really, but in my opinion he has too much of a young look to play the Riddler. Looking for someone 30-35 looking maybe? I do think JGL could however have a part in the film, I think if and IF they decide to introduce Robin/Nightwing, JGL would be perfect for the part, but Nolan said Robin won't appear, so I give that a 99.9% chance of not happening. PS: No Catwoman, please!

@Gambit, lol. How can you hate Catwoman? A super hot brunette with the flexibility of an Olympic gymnast in black leather with a whip fetish, damn man. You obviously are no masochist, lol.

My safe word is "[frick] that hurts, put that shit down!"

it'd be cool if they introduced dick grayson, may not ROBIN, but without rachel for him to connect to, the death of dicks family could give wayne a good reason to cnnect with him. as far as catwoman goes, they could follow the line that rachel took with batman, that she knows now that bruce will never be rid of batman that he needs batman as much as the city, and i would give batman a love interest not bruce

JGL would be a great dick grayson

I just found out that there is a REALLY good chance that Joseph Gordon-Levitt is going to play the Riddler! Now for those of you who do not know who that is, he played alone side the late Heath Ledger in "10 things I hate about you". I am torn on this on whether it is a good choice or not....your thoughts?
