The battle of the CBM's is about to begin. And with that people have been wondering which movies will top the other. Being a Marvel fan I find it funny that people will think that TDKR will suck. REALLY? Of its anything like the Dark Knight it'll blow our minds. But you can't compare these movies. They're to different.

The Dark Knight Rises:We already know some things about this movie. Talia,Bane,Catwoman. Each one will have a pivotal role in how Gotham will go to ashes. This movie will have alot of symbolism and will show us things that have a deeper meaning behind them. This movie will show us the fall of Gotham and Batman. Then it will show the RISE of Batman to greatness. When I look at the theatrical poster I see the ending to a perfect trilogy. I have nothing bad to say about Batman Begins or The Dark Knight. Both films are JUST GREAT. It really shows us the beauty that is Batman and to a new generation. It took me a while to see Batman Begins but I love that movie. This is a movie with one hero. So we have time to delve deep into his mind and see what hehe's thinking. Then we have the villains. Bane we saw last was a guy who could barely speak. Let alone bring chaos to an entire city. When it comes to Bane's strength he's merciless and powerful. I see Bane attacking Gotham with a huge hit, which will triple both Gotham and Batman. This movie is about a man who falls both mentally and physically and RISES to greatness in being the hero his city needs. You can expect a movie like this to be again Oscar worthy. The only thing I will say is that the critical review will be better than its incoming gross.

The Avengers:Its a movie about 4 superheros who team up with 2 assassins/spys to defeat an alien invasion. How deep do you really expect this to be? This will be the first time we'll see a crossover in cinematic history,so this is an event. We'll see a giant green monster, aliens, futuristic high tech suits,a super soldier, and a guy with a giant hammer. This will be escapism if I ever saw it. The story won't be great. There won't be these awesome plot twits or anything like that, that's for the Dark Knight Rises to do. We'll see superhero vs superhero. We've all been waiting for that.

Where I'm going here is that both movies will be great. And in a cool way even each other out. One more on the side of realistic, showing a massive terrorist attack and the other is more fantastic with an alien invasion. The whole Marvel vs DC was fun when I was younger, and once in a while it still is. But we can't base this summer on adebate that won't go anywhere. I saw Marvel first so I love Marvel more. If you saw RC first you probably perfect that. Both movies are and will be awesome. Each one has something to bring to the table. The Avengers is the beginning while TDKR is the end of something GREAT. Each will be the best OF ITS KIND.

Good write up. I agree although I think Avengers will surprise most with some really good acting and story.

Will it compare to the TDKR? No. And it's shouldn't.

The Avengers is a good action film, which has a solid story, and epic action. The Avengers will be lots of fun and make you want to see it again and again.

The Dark Knight Rises, is a drama film, it will have good action, and an mind blowing story. TDKR will be a great drama film which when you're in the mood for a drama film you'll watch.

Both are great and I'll watch both!

I'll watch both of these mutha[frick]as on an 8 story IMAX screen. [frick] the biased one-sided people. [frick] the Marvel Supremacists and hardcore Nolanites. You need the ying and the yang to have balance in the CBM world

Wait nvm. I dont want to see Avengers in 3D. The picture will be too dim. -_-

Seriously? Why does one's success hinge on the other's failure? Is it possible we might have two kickass movies in one summer? Grow up.

@Nolanite: Dude grow the [frick] up. They'll both be epic movies to their on extent. I'll admit in my article I was biased with The Avengers vs. The Dark Knight Rises, but seriously though. I know they'll both be great. Avengers because there has never been a movie using a superhero team up and on top of that it's just gonna blow people away. The Dark Knight Rises will be epic for it's deep story, drama and acting. They'll be epic but as I said before, to their own extent.

Let's see....

TDKR will likely be deeper, have a better script, be more original, and will (hopefully) do well at the Oscars next year (unless they snub Nolan again).

Avengers will appeal more to those who don't like Oscar worthy stories like TDKR's and prefer to shut down their brains for a couple hours, but will really appeal to fanboys (like myself).

I'm sure Avengers will have a great story and some great twists, but it won't be much compared to TDKR. Both movies are very different, but they'll equally be amazing in their own respective ways.

i like how everyone now acknowledges that tdkr will be oscar worthy and that the avengers will be fanboy worthy. when not too long ago, everyone was saying how much the avengers was going to destroy tdkr in factors of finance and critics.

all i know is, the avengers along with its fanboys, are HYPING THIS SHIT UP BIG ASS TIME. this movie only HAS TWO OPTION. A COMPLETE FAIL OR COMPLETE AWESOMENESS. THERE CANNOT BE ANYTHING IN BETWEEN.

this is an end for nolan's bat film. he has proven to be a master of entertaining with his successful sequel to batman begins, the dark knight. the dark knight rises ends the story he has been telling us for the last so years. even if the dark knight rises fail, it eventually does what it was set out to do, end Nolan's story. there is no need to succeed because after all, that's what the sequel to batman begins was for. i mean, this is the third film, how much more evidence do you need?

the amazing spider man is a new story with the teenage hero. it introduces us to the same character we've seen before but told differently. we've all seen the previous three and we've all praised Raimi's vision. we know what spiderman is capable of doing on the big screen so its basically pretty hard to screw that up. i sure that it will obtain knew fans but im just as sure it will be viewed by the same audience it received in the previous movies. with spiderman in general, there seems to be more certainty for sequels than a 50-50 chance . its only competitor is Raimis's spiderman.

the avengers truly has the potential to become not only cbm of the year but best cbm ever. it has everything that a superhero film needs to become truly epic, the obvious being, all the important heroes just in one film. but that to can be its downside. a film with lots of heroes is just as bad as a film with lots of villains (i.e. spiderman 2) IF DONE BAD. the director has to be extremely careful because either this will be the best cbm or a complete piece of shit. there cannot be anything in between because then what is the point of having them all in the movie? just an ordinary hero movie? no, because this is not what this movie is hyping itself to be. this film can either be the beginning or the end for the avengers.

so in order for this to truly be great, it has to beat out iron man 1 and it has to beat out tdk in factors of finance and critics.

this has to beat rt score of both iron man and tdk, which is 94%

and it has to surpass tdk's revenue, which is $1,001,921,825.

and lastly it has to be as influential as tdk was. it has to be cited on every future cbm filmmakers list. it has to break ground and create a new way of watching cbm.

do that avengers and you will be legendary. dont do it and you'll just be another summer hit and nothing more beyond that.

I think they'll both pass TDK's bix office revenue.
In the end, it'll be about the reviews when it comes to the tie breaker

I think it's dumb to say the the Avengers has to be either the best CBM ever or the worst piece of shit ever. That makes no sense. That's like saying pizza has to be either the best food ever or the grossest shit ever and there's no in between. Most of the CBM's that have come out are neither the best or the worst. They are somewhere in between in most cases. Some are higher up the scale than others. Just because the movie has a lot of characters to juggle does not justify the best or worst theory either. It seems like too many people have all their hopes a dreams invested in this movie and if it doesn't reach the near impossible standards they have developed in their heads then it's an automatic fail. Can you imagine if we judged every CBM on this kind of system? Hollywood would never make another CBM again knowing there was a 50/50 chance it would fail.

I hate it when dipsh!t nolan-worshippers claim to be MARVEL fans.

If you want to lick nolan's @$$ just do it and subtly put down THE AVENGERS just do it. Don't come with bullsh!t claims of being a MARVEL fan so that it will not be obvious that you are a nolan-worshipping dc fanboy troll.

NOBODY gets fooled by this.

@coldbood6 Hey shut up. You don't know how I feel about the Avengers I'm excited for that than TDKR. You should have read that other Avengers article of mine before you try to pass judgement. Your only making yourself look like a stupid tool.
