Man of Tomorrow is fast approaching, and we'll likely get our first look at the movie this December when a teaser trailer is released in time ti play in front of Dune: Part Three (assuming it follows the same marketing approach as Superman and Supergirl).
Very little about the sequel has been revealed, and in terms of set photos, we've only seen the Man of Steel battling a War Suit-wearing Lex Luthor on the streets of Metropolis.
We finally have some news about Man of Tomorrow, as DC Film News has revealed that Superman will wear at least three different suits. Details are few and far between, but "one of them is white, possibly the space/armor suit, and apparently it stores solar energy."
That sounds a lot like what the hero donned in Superman: The Animated Series, and almost certainly has something to do with Brainiac. The question is, will these alternate costumes come from the Fortress of Solitude or could Luthor have built them for the hero?
Superman will also have "a short-sleeved capeless suit," which sounds a lot like what the hero wore during Grant Morrison's Action Comics run. The third costume is the one we've seen in set photos.
DC fans are heading into Man of Tomorrow expecting big debuts and surprises, but filmmaker James Gunn recently reined in expectations when he said, "What secret characters? It's [a] movie about Lex and Clark. People shouldn't expect substantial amounts of other characters."
"When I say substantial amounts, I mean both the amount of new characters and especially the time onscreen of characters who weren't core characters from Superman (well, other than Brainiac)," the DC Studios co-CEO added. "Things have been blown way out of proportion, and most stuff is just dead wrong."
In Man of Tomorrow, Superman will be forced to team up with Lex Luthor to battle Brainiac, a threat not just to Metropolis but to the entire world.
Written and directed by James Gunn, the movie stars include David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Lars Eidinger as Brainiac, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Frank Grillo as Rick Flag, Sr., Aaron Pierre as John Stewart, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, and Milly Alcock as Supergirl.
Andre Royo, Matthew Lillard, Sinqua Walls, and Adria Arjona will also star. However, as we mentioned above, we still don't know whether the latter is playing Maxima or Wonder Woman. There's also speculation that Eva De Dominici is playing one of the characters, and there's always a chance the Diana Prince rumblings don't pan out. We'll have to wait and see.
Man of Tomorrow arrives in theaters on July 9, 2027.
