Avengers: Endgame has returned to theaters, bringing a new look at this December's Avengers: Doomsday with it. Unsurprisingly, Avengers Endgame: Encore is expected to top the box office in North America this weekend, with $3+ million in preview screenings currently looking likely.
To further build excitement, the MCU's former Iron Man, Robert Downey Jr., has taken to Instagram to share some fun official artwork of Doctor Doom attending a screening of the re-release.
"Very Well," the Oscar winner wrote. "Doom shall attend, but there will be no sharing of snacks." In the image, we see Victor Von Doom taking his seat, with snacks and Avengers: Endgame's Nano Gauntlet popcorn bucket in hand.
During a recent interview with Marvel.com, filmmaker Anthony Russo reflected on the fateful moment he and brother Joe shot Tony Stark's death scene in the 2019 blockbuster. As we told you earlier today, he's refused to comment on whether Iron Man and Doom are linked in any way.
"That wasn’t a part of the original photography," he recalled. "We shot that pickup on the same stage opposite the Paramount movie lot where Robert auditioned for Iron Man. That pickup was very memorable for that reason."
He also reiterated that, when it came to bringing Avengers: Endgame back to theaters, "We weren’t going to mess with what that movie is."
"The energy that [night] had, that was really the first sign of it," Russo said of attending the movie's premiere. "I knew it was a very unique, important experience just from that first screening."
The grave course of events set in motion by Thanos that wiped out half the universe and fractured the Avengers ranks compels the remaining Avengers to take one final stand in Marvel Studios’ grand conclusion to twenty-two films, Avengers: Endgame.
Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo and written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, the movie features an epic ensemble which includes Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Don Cheadle, Paul Rudd, Brie Larson, Karen Gillan, Danai Gurira, Benedict Wong, Jon Favreau, Bradley Cooper, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Josh Brolin.
"Avengers: Endgame is a masterpiece which not only delivers on every expectation you had but exceeds ones you didn't even think about. This isn't just a movie, it's an experience," we wrote in our 2019 review of the movie.
Avengers Endgame: Encore arrives in theaters on September 25.
