He and Hulk are the reason in the comics the Avengers assembled

4.A.I.M.
Who wouldn't want to see M.O.D.O.K.

5.Red Skull and Hydra(REBORN)
I just couldn't resist, i would love to see Red Skull twice

6.Walkers
Attack of the robots

7.Skrulls and/or Kree
Secret Invasion or Kree/Skrull war on our planet?

8.Ultron
It would probably make no sense to have Ulron as a villain and no Pyms

9.The Mandarin
Yeah he's Iron Man's villain but, think the Avengers facing off against Iron Mans deadliest foe, AWESOME

10.The Frightful Four
Law, Lyra, Trapster, Wizard, kick some ass

I would love to see the Skrulls as the villains in the first film.

I think Loki/Hulk angle would be the best and the easiest way to go the general audience would understand why there is an Avengers Initiative since by then everyone will know who Loki is and a its a good reason why the Hulk would be asked to join or be in the make up for the fact that he destroyed everything plus its the reason they got together to begin with for comic fans... Red Skull/Hydra might be introduce at the end of the movie but they might save that for Caps sequel since Red Skull is Caps nemesis... Masters of the Universe might be interesting to introduce because Baron Zemo will be in TFA so that might be an interesting way to introduce the Avengers...

Loki will likely be the first villian in the movie, I would bet anything on that. He uses his magic to control the Hulk and that is why they assemble.

I dont think Mandarin will be in it, I bet he is used for Iron man 3

IM THINKIN IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH TERRORISM..MAYBE HYDRA/RED SKULL HAS ACTIVITY GOING OR A TREAT SHIELD IS MONITORING..MAYBE SOMETHING WITH THE TEN RINGS...THEY SEEM 2 BE IN THE SHADOWS STILL...BECAUSE FURY HAD THE "AVENGER INITIATIVE" PROCESS GOING BEFORE IRONMAN 1 AND THE WHOLE HULK/THOR TIMELINE..HE INTRODUCES HIMSELF TO STARK @ THE END OF IM AND MENTIONS THE "AVENGERS INTIATIVE"...ITS NOT UNTIL SOMETIME DURING IM2 THAT THE WHOLE THOR STORY COMES INTO PLAY..SO IM THINKING LOKI MAY COME ABOUT..BUT DONT THINK HE IS THE ACTUAL TREAT THAT FURY IS SO ADAMANT ABOUT THIS AVENGER DEAL..WHAT HAS FURY SO ON EDGE?...OBVIOUSLY ANYTHING THAT OCCURS OUT OF THE ORDINARY HE IS ON IT..JUST LIKE THE HULK...STARK COMING OUT AS IRONMAN..THE CRATER IN NEW MEXICO WITH THE HAMMER...SOMETHING IS GOIN ON BIGGER THAN ANY OF THEM CAN HANDLE ALONE..

Nick Fury: I am Iron Man. You really think you’re the only superhero in the world? Mister Stark you’ve become part of a bigger universe. You just don’t know it yet.

Tony Stark / Iron Man: Who the hell are you?

Nick Fury: Nick Fury, Director of the SHIELD. I’m here to talk to you about the Avengers initiative.

A QUOTE FROM DREW@HITFLIX.."The Avengers" is a supergroup, basically, assembled under the watchful eye of Nick Fury, called into action when there is a global threat that no one hero can face alone. This is not a group that lives and works together a la the X-Men or the Fantastic Four. These heroes all have individual lives, and other things to occupy them. The Avengers is an occasional thing, a last resort.

It is also, if done right, permission to make the biggest superhero film ever attempted.

After all, if the threat isn't amazing and epic, then there's no reason to put this much firepower in one film. You can't just have a regular superhero movie bad guy show up and monologue about some real estate scheme or stand around and glower menacingly. You need to put together a threat so powerful that no single hero could stand against it convincingly. What could possible require the joint force of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, and the Hulk? What could be so potentially catastrophic that this team is called into action?"

It'll be Hulk and Loki, no question in my mind.

They've already said that characters from Thor will carry over into Avengers. Its the simplest way to do the first story, while still being epic and accessible to non-comic fans. Who doesn't want to see the Avengers throw down with Hulk?

Ultron probably for a sequel. and then the 3rd i'm thinking would be something bigger than both the first ones, something cosmic, like the Skrulls.

i think it should be.

1.loki & the enchantress take control of the hulk.

2.ultron

3.masters of evil

when marvel studios decides to go cosmic they should do the following storylines.

1.the kree & skrull war.

2.avengers & the infinity gauntlet

3.annihilation

I think the safe bet is Hulk manipulated by Loki. That is more than enough to require the Avengers.

In the movie I expect Loki would be able to summon up almost any number of level of creatures. If for example some of the Giants from Thor are well received then they could be used in the Avengers. If not they could create new monsters.

Joss said he wanted to put the 'screws to these guys' and that Black Hawk Down was an influence. That could mean that he intends to go for something even bigger just not sure what that might be. I have a hard time seeing a group of Villains because of the time that would take to set-up in the movie. Joss has to spend a fair bit of time with the Avengers themselves and tell a good Action story. I think that limits the number of Villains to a very small number.

There are not many on the dark side that are well known to the general population. Pretty much everyone listed in the Article are known only to comics Fans. That makes them all a bit risky and not much better than something entirely new.

I don't think Joss will go for a new Character of his own creation. He could, others would, but I kinda think not.

definetley start off with the loki-hulk storyline.that would be amazing.

then, they could use the masters of evil or ultron for the sequel and then, end it with the skrulls.(just my homble opinion)

the mandarin would uber-badass in the avengers films, but i would save him for iron man 3.

Awesome article,btw.

They should start of with Hulk/Loki to see them get together but there should be something in the second act like Red Skull/Hydra...

I would like that cashsteele but it seems like a lot for a single movie. But I have to admit with the Infinity Gauntlet and Cosmic Cube in play anything could happen.

Yea i agree that it seems like it could be a lot for one movie but done the right way it might be the best possible plot for the movie... Look what theyve done in these movies In IM 1&2 they introduce SHIELD and in THOR they introduce Loki/Cosmic Cube/possibly the Infinity Gauntlet and anything else in Odin's bag of goodies and in TFA they introduce Hydra/Red Skull and potentially Cosmic Cube in so they'll have that connection and everyone knows about the Hulk so it doesn't seem that far fetched... I mean they haven't talked about or even mentioned Aliens yet and they've talked about Robots to death in both Iron Man movies and in Thor they will go over mystical beings so the only other possibility is Mandarin and they've said they are saving that for IM3... So for continuity sake Hulk/Loki with Hydra seem the most logical....

I just think Joss will spend a fair time on the Characters getting together. We will probably know more once we see Cap and Thor. How those movies end will set up the Avengers.
