8 Marvel Studios Movies And TV Shows That Need To Be A Priority In The Post-AVENGERS: SECRET WARS MCU

Avengers: Secret Wars is expected to reboot the MCU, and with Marvel Studios slowing down on its big and small screen releases ahead of that movie's debut, these projects need to be a priority post-2027.

Feature Opinion

With Bob Chapek in charge of Disney, Marvel Studios had a major issue with quantity over quality. Pushed to produce as much content as possible, we got a lot of character introductions, albeit in stories that frequently missed the mark.

Bob Iger's return and a combination of negative reviews and lower box office returns have seen Marvel Studios and Kevin Feige set out to put the MCU back on the right track. As a result, several movies and TV shows we anticipated seeing before Avengers: Secret Wars haven't happened. Now, there's no longer any room for them before the Multiverse Saga ends.

In this feature, we're taking a look at 8 big—and small—screen projects we're hoping will be prioritised in the next wave of MCU storytelling (likely the "Mutant Saga"). From sequels to team-ups, there's an undeniably exciting mix here.

To check them out, you just need to click on the "Next"/"View List" buttons below.

8. Young Avengers

1e4j2olr o

There's no longer enough time to assemble the Young Avengers before Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. However, those movies can still establish them as one of the MCU's new superhero teams heading into the next Phase.

They won't be that "young" by then, of course, though that concept always had a limited lifespan outside of the comics (this may also explain claims that they'll be renamed the Champions).

A movie or TV series like this also gives Marvel Studios the chance to do something significant with Hawkeye, America Chavez, Cassie Lang, Ms. Marvel, Wiccan, Ironheart, Speed, and various other Phase 4/5 characters who have been largely overlooked following their respective introductions.

7. Midnight Sons

Zzwctjxg o

It's been over 6 years since Blade was announced at the San Diego Comic-Con in 2019. However, many people seem to forget that we've had a pandemic and a Hollywood strike during that time.

Regardless, Marvel Studios is clearly struggling to get this movie off the ground, so heading straight to Midnight Sons, a supernatural Avengers, of sorts, might be what's best for Eric Brooks and the other MCU characters who inhabit the supernatural corner of this world.

Agatha Harkness, Black Knight, Man-Thing, Werewolf by Night, and Moon Knight, and among those we'd like to see factor into this team-up. When that's done, perhaps the Blade reboot will finally follow.

6. World War Hulk

S23cmbge o

Captain America: Brave New World introduced Red Hulk and ultimately revealed that The Leader was responsible for President Ross' monstrous transformation. Both villains were ultimately imprisoned, leaving the door open for them to return one day.

Rumblings of a World War Hulk (or World War Hulks) project have persisted for years. The latest Captain America movie didn't necessarily set the stage for Samuel Sterns to create a new wave of Hulks. Still, Samuel Sterns' role in Red Hulk's rampage means it's still possible for Bruce Banner's nightmare to become a reality.

The Hulk teaming up with She-Hulk, Skaar, Red Hulk, and Amadeus Cho to take on The Leader's twisted army sounds like one heck of an event to us in the post-Secret Wars MCU.

5. The Legendary Star-Lord

Vhxge1xl o

James Gunn is now in charge of DC Studios and the DCU, so he won't be returning to Marvel Studios anytime soon. Fortunately, Guardians of the Galaxy. Vol. 3 ended by introducing a new version of the team and promised we'd see the Legendary Star-Lord again, so let's get to it.

It's about time Chris Pratt's Peter Quill took centre stage in a solo adventure, though we certainly wouldn't say no to a cameo appearance from the other Guardians.

This feels like a great event series for Disney+ and a fun way to continue Star-Lord's story on Earth. Heck, this could even be combined with that long-awaited Nova series. In the meantime, we're hoping Marvel Studios finds a place for Quill in Avengers: Doomsday

4. The Fantastic Four 2

Rotb2d5d o

The Fantastic Four: First Steps grossed over $520 million at the worldwide box office earlier this year. While it wasn't a mega-hit and turned only a modest profit, the movie performed well—the team was primarily known for starring in bad blockbusters—and received great reviews from fans and critics.

With Marvel's First Family set to play a major role in Avengers: Doomsday, we'd hope that a Fantastic Four sequel will be a priority for Marvel Studios in the new MCU post-Avengers: Secret Wars. There are countless stories to tell with this team, and that battle with Galactus and Silver Surfer barely scratched the surface.

In the past, the Avengers movies have been enough to give connected movies that followed a boost at the box office. That alone should be reason enough for Marvel Studios to give us another Fantastic Four movie.

3. Shang-Chi 2

Uiasjrah o

Had plans for Kang the Conqueror not fallen apart (for a multitude of reasons), we might have already seen Shang-Chi and the Wreckage of Time by now. And yes, chances are the Ten Rings were once meant to be linked to a Kang Variant.

With Destin Daniel Cretton busy working on Spider-Man: Brand New Day (and its sequels, if recent reports are to be believed), there's no way we'll see a Shang-Chi sequel before the Multiverse Saga ends.

Once it does, this character needs to step back into the spotlight. He's confirmed for Avengers: Doomsday, of course, but the master of the martial arts deserves another solo outing...alongside a new Iron Fist, perhaps?

2. Scarlet Witch

X8wsqvmy o

If social media scoopers are to be believed, the Scarlet Witch will return in the next Avengers movies under the spell of Doctor Doom. Once that's all played out, it's high time for Wanda Maximoff, Vision, Wiccan, and Speed to reunite.

This could be a Disney+ series, but at this stage, the Avenger deserves her own feature. Elizabeth Olsen is phenomenal as this character, and, regardless of who she's surrounded by, it needs to be her story. Between Doomsday, Secret Wars, and the Vision TV series, the stage is surely being set for Wanda's MCU future.

What's the endgame here? The Scarlet Witch vanquishing Mephisto and getting her happy ending would be our preferred option.

1. Deadpool 4

O5rzn32y o

Ryan Reynolds has been playing Deadpool since 2016 (heck, it's 2009 if you want to count X-Men Origins: Wolverine). The definitive ending of the X-Men Universe is on the horizon, and the mutants will then be rebooted for Jake Schreier's upcoming reboot.

However, if the box office success of Deadpool & Wolverine guarantees anything, it's that Wade Wilson will likely live to fight another day.

Deadpool 4 should absolutely be a priority for Marvel Studios; the question is, what should that movie look like? It's going to be tough topping what we saw earlier this summer, but Deadpool Kills The Marvel Universe sure has a nice ring to it. In the meantime, Reynolds is reportedly hard at work on what sounds like the long-awaited X-Force movie.

The only priority should be the X-Men. Their universe is expansive enough where it should have the most focus. Marvel has shown trying to put time into these other properties that dont have enough mass appeal isnt enough. Shut it down after Secret Wars and focus on X-Men.

Deadpool 4 is your number 1?

lol f*** no.

Post Secret Wars, Deadpool should be a side character who pops up from time to time. And that's it. Deadpool is only cool when he's around other characters. Same way that I have zero interest in a solo Ghost Rider movie. But get Ghost Rider into some other stories? Absolutely.

8 - Young Avengers. Crapola. Let it die
7 - Midnight Sons/Blade. Pay whatever it takes to get Coogler to do it.
6 - World War Hulk. Somehow try to get the Russos to do it. Make it about savagery, not foolishness.
5 - Starlord. Just have him join the Avengers dammit!
4 - FF. Just make it great. The first one was good. Make it FANTASTIC!
3 - Yawn. Make him an Avenger so you have an Asian guy. The first movie doesn't deserve a sequel.
2 - Scarlet Witch. YES! Have the Vision. Leave out the lousy kids. She can be involved with Dr Strange/X-Men/Midnight Sons/FF. Lots of great possibilities.
1 - Deadpool 4. Okay. Not at the top of my list, but an X-Men/Wolverine/Deadpool/X-Force mashup or 2 sounds great.

@DocSpock - cooglar is just like peele they only do cliche stuff. They never diversify. I don't want them to do anything more in MCU.

I think Coogler is very good. I think Peele is highly overrated.

We need Xmen high quality series to play out between the movies and end with cliffhangers that lead to the next movies. And repeat. They could be Xmen continuing after the movies and expanded to add other characters and stories, a wolverine series, xfactor and so on.

Easily agree about Young Avengers, this team just seems to be taking forever to form. At this rate, the actors introduced for certain members are easily old enough to portray full-fledged Avengers. The sooner we get a Shang-Chi sequel, the better. The film has some fantastic fight choreography, and there are so many more interesting martial arts-focused characters they could introduce in a sequel.

You know what needs to be a priority?

QUALITY.

What happened to quality over quantity?

So we get a movie with a humongous cast (quantity) where most will probably just have 5 min max of exposure.

And basing on the 3 teasers so far, we have cgi baby, cgi forest and the geriatric xmen not being together in their scene. Very poor

And to think these teasers were supposed to hype it up 🤔

The only thing from that list that i actually want is a Midnight Sons movie.

I really don't like the portrayal of the Young Avengers in the mcu so far like Wiccan and Speed and Ironheart and Hulkling. Ant-Man's daughter Stature was mediocre.
I havn't watched Hawkeye.
So, no i don't want Young Avengers.

Fantastic Four 2 has already been greenlit.
I hope it's something classic and introduces Annihilus, so everybody knows him when "Annihilation" starts in 2030.

Shang-Chi 2 won't happen. That has been said multiple times by Bob Chapek and others. No more D-List characters.
Also Daniel Destin Cretton is rumored for Spider-Man 5.

Let's wait what happens in Spiderman: Brand New Day and Secret Wars before worrying about World War Hulk.

Same goes for Scarlett Witch.

Deadpool 4?
That's not in the cards.
He is in Avengers 5 & 6 in 2026 and 2027.
2028 or 2029 will see X-Force.

And that's it.

The story of the 'MIDNIGHT SUNS' has so much potential. I'd LOVE to see it get adapted in a way that builds it with shows and movies and culminates into a HUGE two-part epic crossover film. The game made me fall in love with characters I never thought twice about, like Robbie Reyes and Majik and Nico Minoru.

X-Men should be the biggest priority!

Young Avengers too as they're not that young for much longer.
But other them, I think it's kinda time to move away from the Avengers and focus on the X-characters and FF.
JabbaTheSus
JabbaTheSus - 12/30/2025, 2:15 PM
Literally no one wants Young Avengers/Champions. They're a good chunk of the reason the last 5 years have sucked for the MCU.

X-Men should be the only priority. Still give us Spider-Man, Cap/Iron Man (if rebooted/variant) but focus the entire next phgase on X-Men. Fans have been dying for accurate adaptations forever, and we've only had a small taste of that with Deadpool and the cameos in it. Make the X-Men movies like Avengers events, and have side ones or series for X-Force and the other teams under that umbrella.

None of the above.

Full reboot. Or fr MCU is dead in the water even if the next three movies all make billions. As soon as it's done they should do what they shoulda done did after Endgame.

The zoomers give half a shit rn.

Gen Alpha and Beta won't give a shit at all. Zero shits will be given by any young people until they start from the beginning. Blank slate protocol.

Literally wanted Young Avengers since 2012 when the first avengers happened. My favorite comics team - massive Wiccan fan.

To the folks saying “literally no one wants this,” it’s perfectly okay if YOU don’t want it. But I have zero interest in ghost rider etc. but I’m not sh!tt!ng on it for people that want it.

People can like different things, but when you single out a primarily minority-led group as something “no one” wants, it comes off a little…unsavory.

Marvel are making entertainment for a wide range of folks. Not everything will appeal to everyone, it’s fine - we don’t need to belittle someone’s fandom as if it’s taking away from yours. It’s not. We’ve had a huge array of content from the MCU and we’re frankly spoiled.

No young Avengers please! I’d say a proper Daredevil movie would be good, Hero’s for Hire maybe too? A Fantastic Four movie following on from the Eternals focused on the Celestials, easily linked with Galactus and the Surfer. And of course X-Men, with some origins style movies.
