The Wall Street Journal are reporting that acting great Philip Seymour Hoffman was found dead today in his New York City apartment. The news was reportedly confirmed by a law-enforcement official, with the site adding that "The New York Police Department is investigating, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to determine exact cause of death." There have been claims that his death was a result of some sort of drug overdose, but this is not confirmed. Hoffman was 46 years old and starred in Along Came Polly, The Ides of March, Moneyball, The Master and many, many more. While he never starred in a superhero movie, the actor was often suggested by fans for several roles, and he got a taste of blockbuster stardom with J.J. Abrams' Mission Impossible III and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. What will happen with the final two movies - in which he would have taken on a much larger role as Plutarch Heavensbee - remains to be seen. Regardless, our thoughts do of course go out to his friends and family at this time.
