After a long hiatus without much work getting done, Aaron Mcgruder's newest show "Black Jesus" is ready to be on the air! For some (most) who don't know about Mcgruder, he is mostly recognized for creating the award winning comic and televisin series "The Boondocks".  Although Black Jesus may seem like a step down from the groundbreaking writing, I think there may be more than meets the eye to it.
There are multiple returning stars from The Boondocks coming back to work with Mcgruder. Most notably is John Witherspoon known for voicing Robert Freeman. Another interesting casting tidbit is the main star, Jesus, is played by Slink Johnson. Johnson is probably known by his most recent roll as Lamar in Grand Theft Auto V.

Although this may not have the same appeal as The Boondocks, lets hope it is better than the abysmal final season.

Black Jesus premieres August 7 on Adult Swim.
