Dan Trachtenberg's Predator: Badlands arrives in theaters this Friday, and 20th Century Studios has released a new clip featuring Dek, Thia and a new (potential) alien ally fleeing from a massive carnivorous tree creature, as well as a "Kill or Be Killed" featurette which includes even more action-packed new footage.

Another press screening for Badlands took place earlier tonight, and more reactions have now been shared on social media. These posts are probably more positive than the initial round of reactions overall, and it sounds like Trachtenberg might be 3-for-3 after breathing new life into the franchise with Prey and the animated Predator: Killer of Killers.

Weyland-Yutani synth. I didn't know that was official. Opens the door for quite the crossover, so that's really cool. Noah Hawley's ALIENS and Trachtenberg's PREDATOR could make for a spectacular VS film or series.

I can’t wait to see this. I love both the Alien and Predator franchises and so far I’m impressed with how Disney is handling both IPs. Prey, Hunters, Romulus and Earth have been terrific so I expect this one to be just as good.

@IAmAHoot - I think there are plenty of other ways a Predator movie can go without the Predator being an out and out villain. They are not inherently evil so to speak, no more so than a lion hunting a deer - they behave as their culture demands and I think that's always what's made them interesting as a character. Whilst they slot into the villain role in a film where they're pitched against a human lead character, they are elevated above the usual 'evil monster' status by virtue of their societal codes, belief in honorable hunts, respecting their adversaries and so on.

Looking forward to this. For many years I've wanted to see the Predator franchise explore the whole Yautja lore, where they're from, what their society is like, etc. Some previous movies touched on it but it feels like Trachtenberg is really consciously moving in that direction and I never thought we'd get a film where the Predator is the central character, rather than a human (or group of humans) as protagonist(s).
