Morbius Star Adria Arjona On Working With "A**hole" Method Actor (And Fans Are Convinced It's Jared Leto)

Before joining the DCU in next summer's Man of Tomorrow, Adria Arjona has slammed a former co-star who went method and fans are convinced she's talking about Morbius' lead actor, Jared Leto.

Method acting continues to divide opinions. While it's led to some Oscar-winning performances, hearing how those actors sometimes behave on set has resulted in debates about whether it's really worth it when their work so negatively impacts others' experiences.

In an interview revisiting her work on projects like Andor and Hit Man, Onslaught star Adria Arjona reflected on a negative experience she had with a co-star who decided to go method.

Arjona declined to name them, but social media sleuths have done their thing and determined that she was likely referring to Morbius co-star Jared Leto. As a reminder, the controversial actor delayed production on the Marvel movie by taking up to 45 minutes to use the restroom because he insisted on hobbling there slowly on crutches to stay in character.

"I've had it with an actor that I was like, 'Good God,'" Arjona recalled. "But it was more just like an ego trip. I'm like, 'How are you getting away with this?' I’m confused by it, too. I’m like, 'Wow, if I start doing that, I will never work again.'"

"I was in shock by the behaviour, but also in awe. I was like, 'You are f*cking fascinating. What makes you think that this is OK?' I really needed to get into [their] brain about it," she continued. "I would watch interviews of this actor—not saying female or male, just actor in general—and I would be like, 'Oh my God, they're so nice. They're so nice. What a good actor.' It just fascinates me to see people, how they behave."

Like many of its critics, Arjona feels that it's used as an excuse to behave like an "asshole," something Leto has now been accused of on multiple projects (including 2016's Suicide Squad, where he harassed his co-stars with various bizarre gifts while playing The Joker).

"Can we cancel method acting? Because there are a lot of assholes in there," Arjona said. "And then they just say, 'I'm a method actor,' and shit. I don't buy it. You don't get to behave like this."

She continued, "You will never see a woman say she’s a method actor. Just men who are assholes, because we wouldn't get away with it. We would never work again."

After a disappointing stint in Sony's Marvel Universe, Arjona will be hoping for better luck in James Gunn's DCU. Rumour has it she's playing Wonder Woman in next summer's Superman sequel, Man of Tomorrow, though Maxima remains a very real possibility.

You can hear more from Arjona in the player below.

A good point was being made until weakening it by turning it into a gender argument.

@IAmAHoot - her point was "how are they getting away with this". Pulling from her own experience as a woman, she's concluding that this behavior wouldnt be tolerated if it came from a woman. Shes not wrong and it shouldn't be wrong to mention it even if it ruffles the feathers of sensitive men

@Vigor - why is she not wrong? Are there really no women method actors? or is she sexist for not knowing of the female method actors? Is it ok if a female method actor acts like a dick? Probably yes because it’s not off from what they really act like 🤣

Read up on some of Marlon Brando's "method acting".
Particularly when it comes to "The Island Of Dr. Moreau" or even Donner's "Superman". Then of course there is "Last Tango In Paris" which went from "method acting" to full on sexual assault.

@BiffDitko - Donner's Superman...the film Brando refused to learn his lines for and the crew created cue-cards to hide on set behind the camera so he could read his lines while filming.
True "asshole."

BiffDitko - 9/6/2026, 9:23 AM
@lazlodaytona - BUT!!! He pulled that stunt on "THE GODFATHER" FIRST!!!!!!
Then he did that pretty much for the rest of his career. He "improvised" the majority of his lines for "Apocalypse Now" the rest he had fed to him through an ear piece, same like in "Moreau"
He also tried to convince James Caan to play Superman (oh GOD) just so they could hang out.
He got paid 3 million in 1978 for all of 11 minutes of screen time plus backend profit that nabbed him almost 19 million, in 70s $.
He tried to convince Donmer to make Jor-El an inanimate object so he wouldn't even actually have to show up. I believe he wanted Jor-El to be a glowing green bagel. I AM NOT making this up.
There is an UHMAZING documentary about the making of "The Island Of Dr. Moreau" and how Brando practically drove the director insane.

Method acting is an excuse for being an asshole. Good professionals wouldn't need this shit.
BiffDitko
BiffDitko - 9/6/2026, 7:54 AM
@Fogs - Not "always" it can be a legitimate process, and it is. Some actors, like Marlon Brando or Leto DO use it as an excuse fo horrible behavior. Now Brando is a little different. He only took it to the extreme sometime in the 70s but unfortunately he was that way for the rest of his life afterwards. Leto let it go to his head in am extreme way. Actors are...special types of people. Some can turn it on and off like they're supposed to. Sometimes that ON switch gets busted in the ON position and stays that way.

This has nothing to do with her argument (which i think is false, there is definitive a benefit of staying in character), but she wasn't very convincing in Onslaught, which may be because the script didn't give her good scenes.

No lies detected. As Sir Laurence Olivier once (probably apocryphally) said to Dustin Hoffman "My dear boy, why don't you just try acting?"

Depends on how they'll acknowledge what he did?
On this place? He'd be either a martyr or a hero. Maybe both.

Is this site not covering the INDE/Jeff Sneider stuff for a particular reason? It’s definitely newsworthy, this site posts his scoops weekly

Do you not want to anger him or something? Just cover it! He doesn’t care about the criticism

@BiffDitko - the guy is actually super successful in what he does. He’s one of the only big names in the scooping game. He’s worked for the trades for years and has sources without a doubt

He’s also such a little dork, a slimy little rat boy with an extremely punchable face. His personality is so awful, I would hate him IRL.

I honestly seriously doubt he has any real friends beyond people that he uses/use him

Please be MAXIMA!
Already too much clutter in MoT. Wonder Woman deserves all the respect that icon should receive in a solo film first. Why shoe-horn her into an extremely stuffed film already? Just like Snyder did. If Gunn is tired of the Snyderverse comparisons, and can try to not be so arrogant he wants his fingers on her in film first, he'll go with his fascination of B-level characters in Maxima. We need our evil Ant-Man!

Anyone here watching Silo? Now it's not for everyone. There's no lightsabers and power rings in it. Just people talking and doing lots of cardio on those stairs. That show just brings up more questions than answers! Last episode was sad.

First off, Jared Leto’s a douchebag. Second, method acting has produced some of the best performances from good actors.
It is a shame they can sometimes use it as an excuse to be a dick.

@slickrickdesigns - I kinda like it but some actors take it WAYYYYYY over board. Like I don't think someone needs to be a method actor to be the JOKER of all characters. Nicholson didn't need to do that and is still seen in high regard.
Irregular
Irregular - 9/6/2026, 9:21 AM
Method acting I feel should never be a requirement as an actor to get into character. I get it feels easy to just stay in pretend but it's actually a better challenge to turn ON AND OFF.

Granted, it depends on the DEGREE of method acting that you are taking it. Daniel Day Lewis is widely known to stay in character at all times but he doesn't abuse or hide behind the role as an excuse for whatever problems his character is reflected into real life. Another was Jim Carrey in Man on The Moon...NO POINT. Just turn your fuking switch ON OR OFF BRO!
