David Krumholtz has revealed that he has decided to step away from acting for the foreseeable future.

The Supergirl actor, who appeared in several flashback scenes as the titular hero's father, Zor-El, in the recent DCU movie, announced that he has officially put his career “on hold” in a series of Threads posts.

“I kinda sorta put my acting career on hold the other day. It’s been something I’ve been petrified to do for years,” Krumholtz wrote. “Specifically, the fear was that I’d go broke and not be able to handle being out of the game.”

The Oppenheimer and The Numbers star added that he “sent the definitive email” to halt any further acting opportunities, and is feeling pretty good about it.

“A huge wave of relief washed over me. Not sure what I’m going to do for money instead, or how I’m going to do it, but I just removed a humongous burden, one that I truly didn’t fathom the weight of until it was gone. Frustrated, fed up, fried.”

Krumholtz said that years of "fighting for parts" had left him frustrated, but that he isn't quitting the business completely.

“Ain’t over, rather, redefining my terms. Hoping to find a new, more rewarding passion. Me, my product, and I mentality is not working anymore. I want to try to be of service. No crystal ball.”

Supergirl is now available to purchase on Digital ahead of its 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD release on September 4th. You can check out a full list of additional features below.

"In its inaugural flight into the new DC Cinematic Universe, Supergirl reveals the origin of the interplanetary nomad Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl, cousin of Kal-El, better known as Superman. Headstrong, worldly-wise, and often reckless, Supergirl exudes a brand of heroism all her own—truthful, relatable, and always on her own terms. But when an unexpected and ruthless adversary strikes too close to home, Kara reluctantly joins forces with an unlikely companion. Together they undertake an epic, interstellar journey, struggling to balance one’s need for vengeance with the pursuit of justice—and to save the life of Kara’s best friend, her dog Krypto. Ultimately Supergirl will prove that doing good can be tough… and it doesn’t always have to be nice. @NotMyDiagnosis - If I was someone who considered myself a serious actor and I watched myself speaking a gobbldygook made-up language for a film that ended up being the biggest net loss of all time, I'd probably have an existential crisis too lol

He's always been SUPREMELY underrated. Such a great character actor. Best acting in Supergirl by a country mile. So good in Oppenheimer too. I used to love the show Numb3rs.
