The website tvline.com has the scoop on Mauel, the comic relief.

AMC’s monster hit will be adding to its canvas a recurring character named Manuel, who I’m told is strong, smart, kinda blue-collar and potentially the comic relief that the show has never really had.

That description matches up perfectly with a call sheet that was posted onspoilertv.com.

"MANUEL] 30 to 40, Hispanic, a working class survivor, he is confident, physically skilled, a leader when necessary, capable and smart. Has a terrific sense of humor where you wouldn't expect one. Recurring."

While Spoiler Chat at eonline.com has the scoop on the second addition to the cast. A character that could replace Dale as the moral compass of the group.

Our merry band of survivors will meet up with a guy who's the exact opposite of Shane (RIP). Like Dale (RIP), Harold is "a studious and fastidious man" trying to carve out a postapocalyptic niche for himself. Sounds like he could be a model "prisoner"!

That description also matches up with another call sheet that was posted onspoilertv.com.

"[HAROLD] 40s to early 50s. Male. A studious and fastidious man, trying to create a niche for himself in this new world. Guest star. Recurring"

Character that are intended to be funny from the get go can be very tricky. If the humor is natural to the scene I'm all for it, but if it comes of forced than Manuel could be loathed like Jar Jar.

I'm actually not sure why the show needs humor when they have a hysterical character like Lori around. Man that gal is full of laughter. Only person that could get into a car accident with no other cars on the road. Not to mention that time she had me in stitches when she acted all ticked off at Rick for killing Shane. Even though she had strongly insinuated that Sahne needed to meet his maker. Now that was some funny stuff.

The Walking Dead returns for a third season in the fall and will air Sunday nights at 9/8c on AMC. The show stars: Andrew Lincoln, Jon Bernthal, Laurie Holden, Jeffrey DeMunn, Sarah Wayne Callies, Steven Yeun, Chandler Riggs, Norman Reedus, and Melissa Suzanne McBride.
