New Regency And Ubisoft Choose THE EXPENDABLES 2 Producer Basil Iwanyk For SPLINTER CELL

In a sign that progress on the big screen adaptation of Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell - which will star The Dark Knight Rises' Tom Hardy as 'Sam Fisher' - is going well, New Regency and Ubisoft have found a producer with plenty of action experience to steer the project.

Ubisoft have partnered with New Regency to take an active role in the development of both Assassin's Creed and Splinter Cell. The former has X-Men: First Class star Michael Fassbender attached, while the latter has The Dark Knight Rises' Tom Hardy. What neither of these adaptations has is a director however. Thankfully, work on Splinter Cell at least seems to now be moving ahead - Assassin's Creed already has a 2015 release date - as Basil Iwanyk will produce the film through his Thunder Road banner. He's no stranger to big budget action movies and his credits include the likes of The Expendables 2, Wrath Of The Titans and The Town. Based on the hit video game series from Tom Clancy, the screenplay for Splinter Cell was written by The International's Eric Warren Singer.

Tom Hardy for real is gonna be Sam Fisher?
That is awesome.

However, it will be weird/sad not to hear Michael Ironside's voice, as HE is the true Sam.

^^ The next game, Blacklist, will not have Michael Ironside anymore :/ sucks he's not in the franchise anymore. His voice is what made the character who he is.

No Ironside for the next entry?

That's what the French call BULLSHIT.

Yep, that's because they're using a younger guy doing motion-cap for the new game. I was all like "ok, so, can't Ironside just dub him?"
