First Clip for THE HUNGER GAMES Showcases Katniss' Archery Skills

The clip is proof that if you ignored a woman long enough they will go crazy for you. It also proves that Jennifer Lawrence looks so much better with a bow than Jeremy Renner.

I don't know, Renner pulling back the bow while falling from a skyscraper is far more impressive to me. Different strokes I guess.

@Ranger...Well, they are also 2 very different characters...One has been trained his whole life, and worked for a government team, while the other grew up in a poor district, who had to hunt, to survive...Training was probably much different, haha!

If it's anything like the book, it's going to suck. The book lacked good characters (it created those who were bland and unbelievable). The plot was decent, that is until the author decided to jump the shark at the climax . . . That destroyed the plot.

Words for the wise: If you want to write a good book, you need to write one in which the characters are so well developed that they seem real. It needs to be powerful enough that if they were to be killed off, it would cause one to cry as if they lost someone they held dear to. Example of amazing book characters: "The Green Mile"

Is okay, but... I wanted something a little better, perhaps the "Volunteering for Prim" part would have been nice...

Katniss, Peeta...the names sound like they were made up by students at an adult daycare center. Unfortunately the writing's not much better.

@Benjamitesandwich

I agree that character development is very important in a story, but who is to say how emotionally attached the reader will become to the book and the fate of it's characters?

I haven't read The Hunger Games myself, but I do know that it is categorized as a "young adult" novel, and I know that there are plenty of the younger crowd who are very emotionally invested in it and would cry over the passing of one of their favorite characters. Would these same readers be heart torn by the plight of John Coffey? Maybe, although doubtful, but that doesn't mean their taste in reading material is any less valid.

So in the end you can say that Suzanne Collins and Stephen King both did their jobs well -- they inspired the imagination and pulled the heart strings of their target audiences.

One of my favorite scenes from the books!

Can we talk about the direction of this movie?

I'm seeing a lot of people talk about how great this scene is in the book, or how it's their favorite part of the book and whatnot, and this is the scene that presents it?

It looks very bland. I don't know if it's the music or the extras or how fast it seemed to go, but it doesn't make it seem very important.

Everything about this looks off- the pacing is just awful. There is no hint at any transition or clear reason for anything happening. Even without the point of reference, the scene seems like a wasted effort- the camera work is pretty bad too. That follow shot was too shaky, too much bounce to it- the characters seemed fake in their "Party" Up top and there was no emotion coming from that actresses face. I was not a fan of the books, but I judge films honestly- and this is shaping up to be something very tragic and quite bad, it will dominate at the box office, but it will be garbage. My opinion.
