Marvel Studios is in the midst of Avengers: Doomsday reshoots, and according to insider Daniel Richtman, the Russo Brothers are adding "a lot" of cameos to the movie.
That will come as a relief to fans disappointed by the current cast. While impressive, it's missing several heavy-hitters, along with many of the Multiverse Saga characters once expected to factor heavily into this movie and next December's Avengers: Secret Wars.
Now, amid rumblings that Mark Ruffalo left the set of Task Season 2 to shoot a role in Avengers: Doomsday and hints that Elizabeth Olsen's stunt double has been shooting scenes as the Scarlet Witch, Jeremy Renner has potentially revealed his return as Hawkeye.
As you can see below, the actor took to Instagram to post a photo of Hawkeye's costume. The image was accompanied by a piece of music labelled "Avengers x Hawkeye," all but confirming that Renner will return for Avengers: Doomsday.
"Yeah, well, [the Russo Brothers] are very, very dear friends of mine. I got to catch up with them, actually, when I was on the book tour when they were filming in London," Renner previously said. "I got to break bread with all of the boys on [Avengers: Doomsday]. It was good to see everybody, and we have a forever bond. Whether we're filming or not, we're always connected."
With what sound like relatively extensive reshoots underway, all those plot leaks could soon be made irrelevant. While we're not expecting the story to be completely reshaped, some big changes are likely. In Avengers: Infinity War, for example, The Hulk's story arc was completely overhauled.
Originally, Bruce Banner was supposed to Hulk out while wearing the Hulkbuster armour. Instead, his transformation into Smart Hulk was pushed back to Avengers: Endgame. Hopefully, that X-Men team will expand its roster.
Black Panther star Winston Duke has also confirmed that Avengers: Doomsday is shooting additional scenes, telling CNA this week, "We just wrapped and are doing some additional photography for Avengers: Doomsday."
Stay tuned for updates as we have them.
